going to the United States

I've always wanted to go to the US
[but I love Canada,Canada is my home,I Am Canadian!!!]

I've only been there like twice,from descriptions from my netfriend who lives in the States,it seems like San Francisco is the ideal place for me,beautiful city,great place for playing music,and I have relatives there
no NBA team there though,thats sad....
New York City also also seems like a good place,good music,New York Knicks,and legendary streetball court Rucker Park [not that I can compete with the ballers there,I just wanna check it out ]

I wanna get some informations like
living expenses, racism issue...etc..



I don't really have a plan ... I am not even sure of which city I wanna go,SF? NYC? Seattle? I don't know

I am not sure about 'going to college',but...um..one of the reasons why I wanna go to US is that I wanna develop a music career, I can do that in Vancouver but the US cities seems to have bigger music scenes than Vancouver does

Well, for music I believe that the big three are L.A., New York, and Nashville. About racism, I don't know about Nashville, but the other two are open and very metropolitan. I think that Nashville would be the least expensive of the three. I'm just going off of impressions, though. I haven't actually done any research.

I was in San Francisco last month, from what i saw whilst there was that it's pretty much a multi-cultural area.
People there were friendly, they were just randomly talking to me on the street or in shops.
The only thing i didnt like was that the Chinese restaurants didnt taste as good as in London.

Don't go to America.. It's just a more violent and filthier (yet richer) Canada.. You're not missing much.. If anyone has been in both Canada and America and you prefer America I suggest you have your head examined.

I am very flexible musically although I am not good enough to play jazz
I wanna do rock and neo-soul mostly

but I am not gonna be like, playing music just to get paid, I only playthe music that I wanna play

Heh but seriously have you lived in both Canada and America and decided America was better? I sure don't think America is better.. It may have some better points.. but mostly all the crime/everything else just isn't worth it.. When you can go to Canada, get the exact same thing.. except without all the negatives (Not saying we don't have our own unique problems).. And I'd hardly say it was with no preamble.. America does bad/annoying/stupid stuff all the time.. I guess not to my face or anything.. until they cause a bombing which affects Canada too.. Then I'll be major pissed, even though I'll be dead.. Heh, I wonder exactly where you visited ? The Yukon or something? Heh.. It's not really cold in Ontario.. Specifically Toronto.. Buffalo is colder actually.. But then maybe you lived in a southern state that doesn't have winter ? I don't know.. But one of the common misconceptions of canadians is that we all live in igloos.. So yeh where was it you visited which was so cold?

I really didn't have any bad images from Canada. I visited Regina and all throughout B.C. The only thing that I would say is it was rather bland...I mean just a little boring! Very pretty though!

Hmm.. I've stuck to only Ontario so I wouldn't know.. But I'd expect places like Regina to be bland.. Heh.. Toronto is where it's at..

Well I am from Ohio and the people seem to be okay but that is a big difference from San Fran. But there are different forms of visa's you can also apply for your workers greencard. I don't PREFER America over Canada , Canada is my home,
it is just that I wanna go to a different country to see more things, I would also like to go to Europe,
and I wanna play music,I can do it here,but they have a bigger music industry in the States and artists of various music styles
