With respect... I resent the tone of that post.

I never "thinly disguise" anything as humor - when I intend humor - I feel that it is apparent. If the humor was not obvious in my post, then I apologize, here, and now.

I would therefore like to point out that I am, and always have been a longstanding admirer of the United States, I have visited it many times, have driven across it many times, and have many American friends. I work for an American company - the U.S. puts groceries on my table! And I thank them!

I was born in 1943. If it were not for the United States, I probably wouldn't be here ! My father spent much time in your country during those years and enjoyed it too - including time spent with our American relatives!

If you were serious in your post - I can only assume that "thinly disguising" vitriole as humor is part of your own make-up - not my own.

You insult me sir!

And feel that if anyone has taken from the spirit of this thread - it is not me!

I don't think any of you should leave the forum, we have enough trouble finding good members and with a bunch of the old ones dissapearing we need all the help we can get to keep this forum the good and nice smart intellectually admirable place it has always been.

We're watching the fireworks over Lake Arrowhead on Sunday. C'mon up and see the show. It is the first time in years that it wasn't cancelled due to extreme fire danger. (We had the 2nd wettest winter on record AFTER most of the forrest died from drought and insect infestation and most of it burned last year.)

There Must Be A God !!

Of weather anyway. Sat. Sun. and Monday in the mid 70's with a light breeze and no humidity here in Maine. Lunch at the beach today, good ol Maine lobster. Cookin on the barbee tonight, my favorite steak strips. Man what a perfect day , and 2 more to go for the holiday weekend ! Hope everyone else is having a good weekend !
