Airlines report 159 cases of parts falling off aircraft

TOKYO ﾂ― Japanese airlines reported in the fiscal year to March 31 a total of 159 incidents of parts falling off aircraft, up from 96 reported in the previous year, a transport ministry survey made available Sunday showed.
The number excludes incidents reported by newly launched domestic airlines, such as Skymark Airlines, and foreign airlines. The fallen parts included outer panels of aircraft bodies, covers of lights and bolts, but among the more serious cases was one in which engine parts fell off, the survey showed. (Kyodo News)
