Finalized 5 Kanji for Tiles.

Alright, posting this on the language forum this time sense it is more appropriate.

I've pretty much narrowed the 5 single kanji for each of the tiles I'll will be writing on. If anyone sees any errors please let me know. I already had one native speaker check, but never hurts to be careful.

First, peace/tranquility = 平
Second, happiness/joy = 幸
Third, discipline/perseverance = 耐
Fourth, truth/honesty = 真
Fifth, compassion = 情

情 is the vaguest I would say. Alone it only implies feeling, emotion, love or affection (愛情）....the link to compassion in 情け is a fairly minor one in comparison.

Yes, compassion is the one that I had the most trouble with. While as you said, it does have that emotion associated with it, it is extremely vague. However, I literally could not find any kanji that was closer in meaning than that one. I'm sure it exists, but I'm very limited still.

Actually I'm not positive there is only one the English word can be compressed into. Pipokun's choice of ﾂ仁 is more like humanitarianism or benevolence, charity, etc. :?

Just curious to know the reason you and your J friend pick up the third and the last one, 耐 and 情.

after reading your post, I thought 仁, 慈 or 情 for the last one. And from the word order, I thought the last character would be the most important idea in your mind, so I picked up 仁, the paramount idea in the Confucianism.

Well your choice for the last kanji is much easier to write that is for sure. I'm going to have to look through the choices again, I cannot guess why she made the choices she did though.

This is a very difficult project and I'm trying to make sure I am accurate, I'll have to look up the kanji that you posted as well before I start that is for sure.

Unfortunately I cannot find free calligraphic J fonts like Sousho/Gyousho styles, when you choose basic characters, you can find some free-trial calligraphic fonts in some sites.
