I have posted on this forum for some time and have noticed many reoccurring subjects by posters. Thus, as a service to everyone on JREF I wanted to make a thread that would quickly answer the most obvious and basic issues related to Japan in order to keep the board clear of repeat posts and make life easier for everyone!

Without further ado, I present:

The Ultimate Guide to Facts on Japan!

-US has culture. Japan has "文化"

-While the US has a college system with classes, Japan has "寝る時間"

-In Japan the police are weak and should be ignored, even taunted. They can't hurt you and are expendable drones.

-US has gang and crime problems. Japan does not because Japan has "忍者"

-Unlike the police, any suspected Yakuza shouldn't be ignored. However, it is cool to start a fight with them as you are guaranteed to win and you are cleaning up society.

-Japanese women are ALL HOT.

-Japanese men are ALL HOT, except businessmen who are older than 25 and not like young Yazuka bosses.

-All Japanese women want to escape the confinements of a relationships with Japanese men and want relationships with foreigners, even if just for a night of cheap sex.

-Japanese women who are not interested in foreign men are lesbians 90% of the time. 50% of these women are not aware of this yet because of the constraints society puts on them to conform.

-In the United States the main languages English and Spanish. Japan has "日本語" and "国語"

-Japan does not understand American values, and if they did they would change.

-Yes, sex in Japan is EXACTLY like you read about!

-US has gambling which is very bad. Japan does not have any gambling,
it has "パチンコ" and "スロット"

-Akihabara is the main source of modern culture and society in Japan.

-Unlike television in America, you can gain a great deal of knowledge about Japan through television and Anime. Around 80% of what is seen in Anime is accurate.

-US, you bathe inside a lousy American bathtub. Japan, you bathe in a "ソープランド"

-Japanese people are polite, and always laugh WITH you and never AT you.

-It is perfectly ok to carry a sword in Japan if you know what you are doing and dress in full gear. The police may come to talk to you, but only to verify your skills, after a simple display they will let you go.

-US has no sense of morals. Japan has "武士道" "

-Speaking English instantly gets you a job in Japan.

-With a college degree you can work at a high school. Thus you can date all the guys/girls there.

-Japanese adolescents are born with a sense of fashion. It is a simple fact that their experience and intelligence is far above any one else's on the subject of what to wear.

-Wearing Japanese traditional clothes makes you look almost like a native Japanese, thus you will be accepted in society.

-Unlike the US, the Japanese have "指導要領" so their education system is far superior.

-Japanese no longer have a rising population because they only have sex to pass the time between classes. They want to have gaijin babies so they will wait for a foreigner mate.

-Japanese people are better than other Asian's thus are naturally racist against China, Koreans, and other Asians.

-Japan has no ethnic groups, they are one nation and there are only two groups in Japan, Japanese and illegal immigrant spies.

-Unlike the United States where a multitude of languages exists, the Japanese language is pure and not influenced or dirtied by other languages.

-You do not need to know Japanese to live in Japan, and everyone knows English. Kanji is absolutely optional if you do choose to learn.

-Being rude in the United States will get you in to trouble. In Japan it is "かっこいい" and will get you chicks.

-Unlike the United States, Japan has a deep understanding of its own history, world history, and events.

-Cosplay is normal in Japan and shows a strong sense of fashion.

-Japanese people are very giving and love company, unless they say no directly, you are not imposing.

-Everyone knows about Anime and J-Rock, and it is the cornerstone of Japanese modern society. Just like Battle Royale.

-Anything you can't do it in the United States, you CAN do it in Japan.

I hope that this helps answer most of the basic questions and saves many people from having to post threads on these topics. Feel free to add any missing common questions and answers! Thank you for reading and helping to clean up the board!

Brava! Brava! Anyone else care to add? This thread should become a massive repository of these types of key & fundamental truths.

I like this one quite a bit :P

Thank you very much for the praise. I wanted only to include the most vital and CRITICAL information for those searching for important issues on Japan.

Is this one true?!

I hope most of this was highly sarcastic, because there isn't many are completely false :

The others on the contrary are as obvious as saying that the sky is blue :

-US has culture. Japan has "文化"

-In the United States the main languages English and Spanish. Japan has "日本語" and "国語"

-Japanese women who are not interested in foreign men are lesbians 90% of the time. 50% of these women are not aware of this yet because of the constraints society puts on them to conform.

Of course it's true! I even made sure to include the hard data to erase all doubt. See, without threads like this you might have gone and started a whole topic on something like that has been deeply covered many times already. Now all your questions are answered in one thread!

I mean, think about it rationally, Japan has negative population growth so obviously this MUST be connected and these women are lesbians. If you need anything more to convince you of the already glaring obvious facts, watch Sailor Moon. This goes back to my Anime related society connection. You should have all your doubts quelled.

Don't forget all young J-males with too much time on their hands and Daddy's fat allowance are secretly underground Drift Kings and Hashiriya. Nice thread, lol. 8-)

Here's a couple:

- If a Japanese person bumps you while you're both trying to enter a subway car, the Japanese person will apologize profusely and take you to dinner.

- Japanese don't fish in the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands as giant monsters inhabit the region.

Sailor Moon is my first and favourite anime. I know it throughout.
I always wondered if Takeuchi Naoko was a lesbian... 😊

if she doesnt have gaijin boyfriend she must be.

You've uncovered the secret to all of my desires concerning moving to Japan.

Tell me, what are my chances of winning away the hafu kanojo from the local prefectural Yakuza mini-boss? Good, excelent?

I'm going to say excelent. Oh I can't wait... Right after I watch this episode of Marmalade Boy to brush up on my Japanese I'm booking my flight.

THANK YOU JREF!

- As Japanese are really big into recycling, they refurbish their public squat toilets for use by their Olympic bobsled team.

Why are all of you people mocking Emoni's list with obvious sarcastic add-ons?!?
It is almost like you think he is joking.

I'd only say that the number one is dead wrong.
The US has no culture. Unless you turn off the tv that is, maybe, there might be some somewhere that is not in a suburb, maybe... For real. There is like almost like a force field or something that once you move there, culture is not. It evaporates. What is sometimes referred to as "Hick" towns have more culture than suburbs it is that bad.

You are right about this. It makes me sad to be an American, or should I say, a North American.

Certainly the Museum of Modern Art, Carnegie Mellon, Carnegie Hall, Charles Bukowski, Jackson Pollock, John Cage, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Robert Lowell, The Witney, Jazz, Delta Blues, Rock & Roll in general, Nathaniel Hawthorne and the creation of the modern novel format, Walt Whitman, oh hell, the entirety of American literature in general, the creation of the modern skyscraper, all of that crap... Might as well throw it in the garbage.

It makes me feel embarassed to know that a country that's basically a colony founded by ex-British tax cheats, made up exclusively therafter by immigrants which has existed for approximately 500 years is nothing like a country which has historically not had any sort of major (sudden) immigration, assides from neighboring Koreans & Chinese, and if you look back to Jomon population has existed since sometime around 10,000, or at the very least, in written history for close to two thousand years.

Thank's for wrecking my National pride and self esteem.

Lighten up, Sukotto.

Do you really think he was serious with gems such as this:

-Unlike the United States where a multitude of languages exists, the Japanese language is pure and not influenced or dirtied by other languages.

sorry.
The first paragraph i am joking.
Sarcasm is not so good for transporting over the internets.

The 2nd one I just like to rip on the suburbs.
With all the houses the same....basically, meaning not paint color or number of bedrooms. Sometimes there are restrictions from 'the neighborhood' on paint color believe it or not?!?
Friends & i always rip on "the white picket fence", yuppies, corporate, and disney. Maybe it doesn't translate well when one leaves their immediate social group?
Maybe I over do it a bit sometimes.
Most sadly I've moved to a suburb-like setting and am just jealous with my lack of creativity.

however....
if you take a closer look at most of that 'culture' yukio_michael listed, hasn't a lot of it originated from non-suburban settings only later to be coopted into some sort of big business money making scam?
Look at New Orleans. They're trying to rebuild it without the low-income housing so it can be a yuppie paradise. Many poor people are not moving back. Will N.O. regain its soul? Or will it be a plastic disney-fied recreation of what it once was?
But, in the end definition of culture is basically something like "ways of life".
So there is actually culture every where.
(assmaking of self if i havn't done it already a thousand times before)

Sailor Moon is my first and favourite anime. I know it throughout.
I always wondered if Takeuchi Naoko was a lesbian... 😊
Now you know, as one user posted before there is no sign of a gaijin boyfriend. This is simply an example of pop culture being aimmed to young children in Japan. Clearly that has a strong impact on the views of current society in Japan.
Why are all of you people mocking Emoni's list with obvious sarcastic add-ons?!?

Thank you very much for defending me Sukotto. While I know by numerous posters replies that I am fully supported, it is nice to know ONE of you is willing to defend me against such trolling posts like ArmandV's! I people like him are always out to prevent education about Japan! FOR SHAME!

I think you took my add-ons the wrong way. Jeepers, I've never been referred to as a troll before.

I thought your original post was clever. Sorry if I offended your sensitivities. Since when am I "always out to prevent education about Japan?" You have me confused with someone else.

As Harry Truman used to say, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

ArmandV :( How could you? How could you? I'm deeply hurt, and the fact you tried to bar the outlet of knowledge about Japan when others are trying to learn...

Unforgivable! :( :(

Oh crap, now the only way to apologize is cutting off a finger like all people in Japan do when they apologize.

Wait, what color is your hair? I need to know if to take you seriously or not...
