Dear All.

I would like to ask you a question. Does this sentence have any meaning? "SHIMAI TATSU SHIMAI" (sorry I don't know the kanji). Some judo clubs in Italy often use this as a catchphrase and shout it before competitions or other events. I have asked one guy (he is not Japanese) the meaning. He replied: "DRAGON vs DRAGON".

Does this make any sense to you? Thanks for the reply.

Doesn't make any sense to me and I don't see how they get that meaning out of it.

Perhaps "shimai" is a mispelling of "shinu"? I heard people saying the phrase should mean "die, dragon, die!".

Alternatively, here it says it is the "continuative or stem form of verb しまう shimau, 'to finish, to end' ", but I don't know if this translation is reliable: https://www.wordsense.eu/shimai/
