Give it time for more answers.

They always say the internet and Google are not to be trusted for perfect translations. My dictionary is 16 years old and I am no expert on the language. Our Japanese members are just waking up , so once they get on line , hopefully you will get better answers. I think they say a kanji symbol can have many different meanings and you need to see it used in a sentence to get the correct meaning.

There are lots of words with the reading りょう(ryou), but, even if you don't know much about Japanese writing, jisho.org lets you type your word in roman characters. It converts it to kana and then searches the EDICT database.

Anyway, here's the 'ryou' search.

Oh, and in general, you won't find anything useful googling the roman character spelling of a Japanese word. Just about everyone serious about the language uses Japanese characters.

My kanji dictionary has eighty five entries for "ryō", including variant characters.
