There are two variants of the console: Japan Only (日本国内専用) & Multilingual (多言語) in which the only difference being the price, as the Japanese version is quoted at ¥49,980 while the international one (multilingual) is ¥69,980. The reason why the Japanese one is cheaper is because of a language pack (meaning only Japanese is supported and only Nintendo accounts set in Japan are recognized), plus the region cannot be changed. It can read foreign cartridges but with a catch: most games will revert to Japanese (if available) as they detect console language while some you can change languages in game.
