Do Japanese girls like to interact with Gaijins?

At least you are being honest about your intentions, so I have to give you credits for that. While on the prowl for the ladies, don't forget to try many delicious dishes and do some sightseeing as well. Too bad going home with the only souvenir being a cute baby boy ;)

Its just such an appealing place. Would you have any recommendations for dishes or sightseeing in Tokyo (If you know any, if not it is understandable and completely fine)

Honestly since it's your first trip, I think I cannot tell it to you any better than this website and japan-guide.com can. Just go see the main area's, and while exploring them you'll find thousands of nice places to eat.

As for your hunting practices, I think you should go to Roppongi (a sleazy place, but just about right for your intentions) or any Irish pub.

I've been doing research and that name Roppongi has came up before xD "a sleazy place, but just about right for your intentions" I like the realism! You're a real one. Thanks for introducing to the site japan-guide.com , I really do appreciate it mate!

If you're smart, you might be able to combine sightseeing and an enjoyable time with a woman. I have some nice memories of being shown around European cities by young local women while Inter-Railing at your age.
As Cocoichi says, do visit the sights and eat the food. It will also give you a good topic to talk about, which a Japanese woman can easily participate in, when you are at your Roppongi bar. If you express interest in places, you may even get offered to be shown around.

Have a great trip, and do let us know how it goes!

I hope we're not witnessing the birth of the next ghettocities...

I was wondering if Japanese women like to interact with foreigners and want to test out their English, or are they really shy regarding foreigners?
I'm going on vacation I'm not looking for a long term relationship in Japan, I'm trying to party and kiss some J girls you know
You're going to have to pardon me here, but this is creepy. It makes you sound like you've had zero experience with any girls right now, and looked at a certain way it could even make you look like a predator.

Japanese women young and old come in many varieties. Some are outright afraid of foreigners, some want to explore them, some want trophies to impress their friends, some are horny *****, and some are sincerely open to relationships (like my wife was). Picking up any girl in a bar is already lowering your standards of who you want to "meet", and to declare that you want an immediate smooching session is pretty lame IMO. Please be considerate of other foreigners, if not the Japanese girls, because anything you do only reflects on your fellow foreigners. Of course, be even more considerate of the girls you meet, because so many of them have a mental age far younger than their physical one, and they may seem awestruck by a caucasian who dotes on them, especially with alcohol mixed into the situation.

Roppongi is a widely known place in Tokyo for foreigners to haunt. Be very careful in bars there, too, especially foreign bars, because alcohol and horny foreign guys mixed with sexily clad Japanese girls can lead to bar fights. There are already too many of the charisma man characters here, and some are outright predators looking to add notches to their bedpost.

I'm sorry if this comes off badly, but I really don't care for people whose primary intention in coming is to hook up with the local girls. You've barely even mentioned sightseeing or what else interests you, and that's a bad sign. You can't be on the prowl 24/7, but you should have at least looked into what you might want to see and do for sightseeing before you wrote about the female population.

And, if that avatar pic is you, I'm even less impressed. Who would think a selfie in a public toilet with urinals in the background is appropriate?

If you go to the right places you'll meet girls who are looking for exactly what you're looking for. If they want to kiss you and you want to kiss them and its a thrilling, joyous experience for you both, I see nothing creepy about it. It's just sex, people are allowed to enjoy it and seek out others with whom to enjoy it. A healthy expression of sexuality is an affirmation of life.

That said, @Glenski is right that you should use caution. I went to Roppongi once to see what the fuss was about and, frankly, it seemed pretty unsavory. It didn't scare me physically, but I could see massive potential for scams considering the combination of characters there.

I agree with your assessment of his intentions 100 percent. Creepy is a good word. Apparently, he is having no luck in his country with girls of any nationality. A very expensive trip to make just to try and find Japanese girls in their native country. And some wonder why my country, the United States, is in such big trouble with its young people. Same with Canada. Looks like a classic example with the selfie in the public toilet. The future of North America is not bright.

I have a similar opinion of Roppongi and never go out there in the evening. It's one of the very few places I've been to in Japan where I've been persistently harassed on the street by touts to enter girl bars etc. It also merits a mention on the US Embassy website as a place to be on your guard against scams, so be vigilant.

Some of them do. Most of them don't. But that doesn't matter because you can easily find the ones that do. If you go to clubs/bars where foreigners hang out, then there's a good chance that Japanese women there are the type you are looking for.

Don't worry thats my intention, people like you love to assume LOL

I find the public toilet selfie quite amusing. It elevates the word corny to a whole new level. It doesn't always have to be serious, and 10 years from now he will laugh about it himself as well :)

As for his intentions: at least he is honest about it, and I'm sure any of you guys had hormones pumping around your body when you were 18. If he and the Japanese girl have the same understanding of what is about to happen (and I really asume they do, because no one goes to Roppongi to relax with a cup of earl grey and a charles dickens novel), it's all fine. Just don't expect to find the woman of your life there.

We all grow old, and by the time we're 30, we all wished we had done more crazy exciting stuff in our lives. I'm almost 30 and I am nothing like the guy I was when I was 21, but at least back then I had the time of my life, and some of the memories remain forever :)

At least he's honest about it.
I'm sorry, but that does not excuse his behavior. He's 18 now, and by the time he has the money to come, his hormones will be in more of a lather. Kissing may not be the only thing on his mind (as if it is now).

people like you love to assume LOL
You don't give us much choice. Don't forget how long some of us have lived here and seen things firsthand.

I don't think we can say anything to stop a certain number of men going to Asia with the intention of meeting women. A lot of women want to meet foreign men. As long as the men maintain respect for the women they're interacting with, it shouldn't be a problem. Women's safety is the most important thing.

To OP and lurkers:

Stick to bars and clubs where you can reasonably assume women might be there to meet new random people. Yes, since you're foreign some people may start a conversation with you in the street or on the metro, but 99.9% just want to get to work on time. Leave them the hell alone.

Always give the woman space to exit the interaction and pay attention to whether she's trying to end it. If she doesn't seem enthusiastic or rejects you, don't get pushy or indignant, just move on. She doesn't owe you her time. If she seems reluctant or is already getting drunk, help her to find her friends, don't isolate her or get her to drink more.

Treat people like individuals, not whatever your stereotype of their race or nationality is. There is nothing wrong with having a physical preference, but don't project your ideas of how a Japanese woman should be onto her.

In short, be a decent human being. I've experienced this same behaviour in 5 or 6 countries, and it's no better for a guy to stay at home and be a creep or a predator than it is in Japan.

By the way, the ili translator thing was in the news before because of widespread complaints about the promotion of sexual harassment. The maker later said that all the interactions were staged. Of course it still promotes harassment and I wouldn't want to give them any of my money.
'Creepy' pick-up artist ad is not what it seems - BBC News

The maker later said that all the interactions were staged.

The bigger problem is that the translations were almost as certainly just as faked and staged. There's no way the device works that well.

I thought it must be fake when I saw the video, no automatic translator could be that good. But to me it's a bigger problem to promote and normalise street harassment than people being duped into buying an ineffective translator. Why did they think that was the best way to advertise it? Are sexual predators their target audience?

I think we can agree they're slimy on the inside no matter which way you slice them

Honestly, I couldn't even watch the ad for that translation device to the end. I was cringing too hard - and I'm a guy. The German word "Fremdscham" comes to mind (feeling awkward/ashamed as a result of someone else's actions).

Text translators have been around for more than 15 years now, and none works without flaws. Add speech to it and you know its too good to be true. At least for now.

Oh yeah that translator looks too good to be true honestly

Jawohl. It's a truly bizarre marketing strategy. Even Lynx realises it's generally better to depict the women running towards you...
