Dir en grey

_^_ <-- *falls over dead* OMG... this single... it's delish! CLEVER SLEAZOID is an even better song than I could have imagined... it's pretty diverse for just being one song... now that I'm home... I can order it... *faints*

I have the full single by the way... if anyone wants the live tracks...

lol yeah - I have the full single too. I love the live version of Dead Tree!

Clever Sleazoid the song... I like it... but... I think Diru can make better. :sorry: I like the lush pickscrape at the beginning and the intro. The guitars are very crisp and there are some damn nice hooks. But they tend to get drowned out a bit by the vocal. I'm trying very hard not to be a "traditionalist" in my tastes because I know that is my tendency! And I do like heavier stuff (like Pink Killer for example, one of my total favourite songs!), in addition to the more melodic songs. And I'm unencumbered by too much Diru knowledge, so I can't get bogged down in "early/later" music comparisons. But personally I'd have liked to have heard a guitar solo! And I must confess to being disappointed not to hear the bass a little more. Although it complemented the song well, I really had to listen hard for it.

I think Kyo screams well in this song, especially at the start, where the screaming is good with the quieter talking-like section. Nice growling all through - but I do feel that the more melodic passages don't show his voice off as well as they could. It seems to be drowning in too many layers and I think that both the vocals and the guitars could benefit from being pared down a fraction in that quieter section to showcase them both a little more.

The pace of the song varies well, but the vocal, to me, doesn't vary the tone and the texture quite enough. It's a tight and competant piece alright; I would say it's "good", definitely, but in my heart it doesn't hit the "awesome" button that I know Diru is capable of hitting.

Sorry, I don't have time to write in more depth. :sorry: (work calls...)

Wow! I liked it a lot better now that I've heard all of it. Some of it even reminds me og good old blitz-norwegian hardcore and the mida-damedadamedadameda(or whatever) is so awsome!
Anyway, I still think the melodious bits hurts(in a bad way).

I'de really like to hear them introduse that song though. That would be hillarious
"Kurevoru suhrishoido ..."(?) How do they say that in japanese?

Hmm... :? I would make an arguement about your criticism Kinsao... but to be honest... I haven't paid too much attention to the vocals and I won't pretend I have... :sorry: I'm to stuck on the music right now... especially rhythm guitar and drums... I keep drowning Kyo out... you'd think it be harder to ignore him...

Umm... I would imagine something like Kureveru Surezoido ...though if I'm hearing correctly (and they are saying "Clever Sleazoid"... >.<) it sound like "Krever Rezoid" ...anyone else think Kyo says "Kiss my ***" in the beginning... I need to find lyrics...

I'll upload the live tracks right now...

...has anyone actually ordered it? :? I did...

while searching for lyrics I discovered that CLEVER SLEAZOID PV will premiere in Europe and US today on MTV. I DON'TWANT STUPID PEOPLE KNOWING THEM... this makes me so mad... my friend laughs at me cause everytime we go to record stores I check to see if they have Dir en Grey... they never to do and I sigh a huge sigh or relief and tell her I can live one more day... they are gonna release there music here... I don't want that... sure I hate paying ridiculous import costs... but it's worth it... I'd pay twice as much if they would just keep there music out of America... this is making me physically sick... atleast I can't watch it... our tvs have no cable right now... I don't want them on MTV... I want them to come here and tour... but I don't want to share the concert with stupid people who just like them cause there the new thing... cause they aren't the new thing and no one will know that... I being selfish... but I don't care... don't touch my Diru... :box:
...and on a lighter note. Kyo says in the song "One day I will **** your parents" ...much respect to Kyo, he is a lyrical genious... truly a lyricist extrordinaire.

Calm, Pinkkiller...Calm...Think of a pretty, calm, and lazy sea with purdy, little sea birds flying overhead, calling to each other, and a beautiful, simply-to-die-for sunset on the horizon...

-proceeds to back away-

Although I do quite understand why you're upset. Hopefully, this won't happen here...-prays that all the stupid jocks, poseurs, and preppies here don't watch MTV-

...-has no chance in Hell of that one happening-

-proceeds to switch to pray for the hope that they're all too goddamn rascist and closed-minded to listen to music from another country and/or that they just wouldn't like it-

And go Kyo! -proceeds to worship-

That kind of stuff makes me gag... I'd rather think of dead things and blood red skys... that makes me calm... ☝

I just... I knew it would happen... just not now... it's too cruel... I'll just have to die or kill them... the world wouldn't survive without me... so I guess its them...

I know... I simply love that line... I want to run around chanting it... I haven't managed to snag the entire lyrics... just bits and pieces... :sorry: and anything I can figure out on my own... I'm sure they'll be a lyric booklet in the single :? *has never purchased a single before* ...I'll just have to wait till it comes in the mail. *sigh*

...I feel better. Renter en Soi has calmed me down... and reduced me to something like this -->

Yea... of course not the best... but it has that shock element... not something I expected to hear from Kyo... but... it is Kyo... :?

Yay! xDD Me too, me too!

True, true...Kyo never ceases to amaze and shock me. xDD

Yay! Special!

And, well...I will, BUT! I have The Juliana Theory for that. My mom met them when they came to KFC as she told me. I'm not 100% sure about that (afterall we live in a tiny place with, like, a 5000 population...), but still! xDD

Not to mention, I might actually be able to buy their CD(s) with spending, like, $50 and waiting forever...-grumbles-

In some ways I can sympathise with the way you feel, not wanting the "wrong" people knowing of Dir en Grey and just listening to their music because it's "latest thing" or some stupid reason like that. But really, I don't give a **** where they are marketed and promoted or who listens to them. Maybe I'm just selfish like that, but as long as I can listen to them, I like them and everyone else can go hang. If people are going to listen for stupid and shallow reasons, that's their problem, not mine. :smoke:

If I were you I'd just chill and treat them with the contempt they deserve.

:sorry:

I can't change the way I feel... I don't want them to be mainstream here... I know there are stupid ignorant so called "fans" right now... but why add more... aren't there enough stupid people to begin with... People just have such bad taste in music here... it's shameful... they like what's mainstream... and if Diru becomes mainstream... I'm not saying I'll hate them... I could never hate Diru (I hope ^^... I'd hate America even more... they won't even understand or appreciate what they are listening to... can you imagine now having conversations about the bands you know and love that when ever you mention them people go "what? who?" ...now suddenly people know who they are... it's weird... everything is already weird in my life right now... and now this... I can't adjust to anything... I feel... well... lost... I don't even feel like I'm home... even if I technically am... sorry... I just overreact alot lately and get overly emotional of stupid little things... I don't mean to make anyone mad... I don't want to start arguements either...

...and don't worry... I am "chilled" now...

Anyway..... the whole reason I came on jref just now...

I have the lyrics... and I never would have guessed... the whole thing was in english apart from one line...

Clever Sleazoid

Wake up you're dead

Doing meaningless sh*t over and over
I'm just a third-rated star covered in blood
See the prince on the rocking horse, his polishied face looks cool
I'm just gonna spill my guts on you

Under the name of Justice
You can't break my soul
Under the name of Justice
Kill yourself

Think, you moran
Fall out of line you cockroach

Right, left, front, and back, it overflows with despair and pain
They say this anger, this emotion, and this passion is all a lie
Witherツ…
I'm not even trying to justify myself

Under the name of Justice
You can't break my soul
Under the name of Justice
Kill yourself

Think, you moran
Fall out of line you cockroach

The dark dark Sunday, the blood stains
You can't save yourself
The dark dark Sunday, the blood stains
One day I will **** your parents

This is the last time
Welcome to the garden of destruction

This is the last time

The night is cold and long
The night sky is deep and wide

(that one line in Japanese is - koe mo de nai kurai ni ... sonna ima ni hitori to kizuku. Translated it's - until even my voice won't come out anymore ... at this moment i realize i am one person)

Not to mention, even though it's insulting the band in a way, it would make them possibly a bit more richer...

It's alright, Pinkkiller. I'm making a bit of an assumption, but I don't think she was really all THAT angry...
If you were, Kinsao...Sound more like it then! xDDD
And those are AMAZING lyrics! Assuming Kyo wrote those, he has once again demostrated his amazing...Ness...-forgot what she was going to use before...-
But! Anyway!

Don't worry about the PV on U.S. MTV - because it's only being shown on MTV FRANCE.

Lol... I wasn't angry at all!!!

I'm just like... actually I want people to like Diru... obviously not for dumb reasons like just because they're mainstream ... but if people are gonna be stupid... let them get on with it and ignore them.

I'm totally unprotective towards music. If I had my way I'd make the whole world listen to all the songs I think are good!

I mean, people listen and they either think "hey, this rocks! I love it!", or they think "what's this crap?" ~flick over~ (or some reaction in between). And if they like, they'll look for more, and if they don't like, they'll ignore, right? If people think, "oh, everyone is loving Dir en Grey, so I'm gonna love them too" - I mean, that's just such a dumb reaction it isn't even worthy of any attention.

There's nothing more annoying than when you find a band new to you, and really like their music, and are all like "wow! this kicks ***!" and then you find someone who looks down their nose and says, "I was into these years ago - before they became [contempt]mainstream[/contempt]". No way am I saying anyone here would go down that road... just... it's damn irritating, right? I had some friends like that at school, and they got really snooty when bands they liked became popular, and they would then stop liking them... they only wanted to be different.

~ahem~ [/RANT] :sorry:

The lyrics... I love 'em... Read them yesterday, and, no, I wouldn't have guessed he was singing in English... at least, I did for some parts, but I hadn't a clue what he was singing... Kyo is certainly wordmaster.

Whee! MTV France is ok. All French people must love jrock! That's an order!

Those people would be .... me...?
I'm not saying I'll hate a band just because they're popular, but as popularity matters music often goes down the drain.
They start worrying about, will they like it? And if they worry about what the western fans will like, what will happen?
I wish they wuol keep doing japanese music(Though evolving, because it's great that they do). And I don't get why they're suddenly so into english lyrics...
Anyway, the pv is only on in France, not MTV-E? Because luckily there will be no reason for me to watch mtv!

No way! I didn't mean anyone here!

It's a different thing hating a band because they are popular, and hating a band because you don't like their music. The first is total nonsense; the second is total sense.

If a band's music gets worse because they became more popular (either because they feel they don't have to put so much effort in any more, or because they are trying to appeal to a different market), then that's a perfectly valid reason to dislike.

I for one hope that Diru don't start worrying about what the western fans will like. I can understand them wanting to broaden their audience, but they should be trying to open the minds of the people to their music, not changing their music to suit the market.

And Kinsao just said something very true... I bow down to you, Kinsao! *does so* Well said!

Thanks, I was sure I'de be really hated now. I was preparing my defense in my head
The last thing you said is one of the best things I've heard, Kinsao.
I wish more bands would beleive in themselves enough to realise that (Not talking about Diru!)

mou... I haven't heard this newest single yet. *sobs*

I've only gotten to hear their songs recently - my first Diru song had been Cage and I was like, 'wow'. Granted, it wasn't what I'd usually listen to, but Kyo's voice and the music had me fallen immediately... And I never even understood their lyrics! Then, a quick surf through the net and I had the english translation of their songs, and ta-da! Hook, line, sinker. Diru's fanbase has another new member

Cool! And welcome to the fold!
It seems that lots of people have Cage as the song that made them fall for Diru. It was for me - even though it wasn't the first one of theirs that I'd heard.
What's the kind of stuff you listen to usually, then?

Now I see what a total fool I made myself look like... throwing a fit like a two year old... I'm just not in a good state of mind... ...another hurricane is coming... I am worried... they locked us down... we can't leave... it shouldn't hit us too hard... it's not suppose to a direct hit... hopefully.

I don't actually mind people liking them... if they like them for the right reason... it's just foolish to think Americans will change there ways... there's too much empahasis on lyrics and "catchiness" and not enough on composstion and variety and originality... it makes me very bitter... I have very little tolerance for Americans... I try not to consider myself one... I think if Diru came here... it would only be for money... afterall... that is all America really cares about... quick money...

The more I thought about it... the more I think Diru is safe from stupid people... I hope I'm right :sorry:

...anyway. STUPID HURRICANES... XDDD they are screwing up or mail systems... I want my single... NOW! I think I will tackle the mailman when I get it...

Noooooot meeee! It was Raison D'etre and Pink Killer for me... made me want to explore further... but it was Kisou album that made me love Diru... I don't see the hype about Cage... it's a good song yes... but c'mon... we all know Kisou and six Ugly are Diru's best works...

*covers self with fire blanket and prepares to be flamed*

*huggles pinkkillerkisou* I hope you're doing alright down there ☝

Raison D'etre is good, and I haven't heard Pink Killer yet, so I'll reserve my comment on that for the moment. *ducks any flying artillery that may come my way* By the way, I've just got my hands on Macabre *luffs Shinya's drumming*, and it wasn't bad at all!

I usually don't listen to rock music at all, unless you count Linkin Park as that, though I'm quite attracted to music like that of Maaya Sakamoto and instrumentals along the likes of E.S. Posthumus and the song 'Navras' feat. Juno Reactor and Don Davis. Now, Diru's got me kinda hooked to j-rock... Which leads me to wonder, what other J-Rock bands are good? Any songs to recommend?

pinkkillerkisou i'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!

About the new diru sound, it aint so bad i think, its just different.
Like any band the changed over the years, be cause the get older and stuff.
The only thing is the changed for 2 reasons i think:
- because the get older and stuff
- the looked at the future... concerts abroad, getting more famous (dont mind them seeing on my mtv )

what a bad dream YOU had... i hope it won't come true cause that would be really :-( imagine if a lot of people would cosplay like jrockers and do the same thing like most japanese fans do... just to be cool.
That would be totally weird oO
