Dir en grey

hahaha same here, my lil'niece lauges at me when i try to hit the high notes like kyo and she'll be like hahaha you cant do it!

the entire band had a hand in each of the unplugged songs... whether writing them in the first place or rearranging them (did shinya play piano by the way?) ... it isn't their main body of work, but i do think it's a part of all of them... i see what you mean, though. it's also true that the emotion in kyo's voice is more prominent and easy to hear in the acoustic versions... but i think i perfer the originals in the end. ^_^

i got 2 different versions of THE PLEDGE lyrics... i was wondering what other people got so i can see which is more accurate... tank ya!

The documentary covering the U.S. tour this past winter finally aired in Japan. It's up on YouTube in three parts.

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 -
The NYC show that IkaruJaki and I were at finishes it off. Can't believe it's already been almost three months since then.

alright! thanx!
I haven't heard the acoustic version of Concieved Sorrow yet
I'll get to it though, soon. My fav songs from The Marrow of a Bone are probably: Concieved sorrow, The Pledge, The Deeper vileness, Disabled Complexes ( i like the "psycho killa!") and Grief.

Thanks so much for the links, I was wondering when we'd get to see the damned thing
Aaaaww, just when I start to forget why I love him so much, Shinya goes and plays with a hurt shoulder.

aa.. great! Saishu, arigatou for the links.
to Anchyyy:
well some of them prolly cant accept some change.. like wad they posted in the comment box of Grief PV i saw on youtube..
check it out - alot of those haters claim that they're supporters of the "old" Diru & that Diru's change sux or something like that. but of course there are also those like us who adore the album. well.. we're all entitled to their own opinions. i still think Diru did great for their new album.
*TMoAB's still hogging my media player.. (& i think its gonna stay here for quite a while)*

^agree... you know, i remember seeing some people starting up some "protest MOAB" group thing posted ON THE OFFICIAL DIRU BOARD... not only is it completely stupid and wrong in the first place, but to post it on the official board??! dude... fans of diru are either the coolest, most amazing people in the world or complete jerks (for lack of a better word >_<) i think that they're just looking at both the album and Dir en grey on the surface...

yeah i agree alot of ppl are talking trash about them and i get so pissed i mean they should back up the band 100% instead of putting them down but the ppl who back them up are the coolest!

i love the bonus cd from the MOAB album,very moving and i could actually hear kyo's voice clearly though i love the way he screams

conceived sorrow
the pledge
grief
clever sleazoid(i love the guitar play and kyo's scream)

@semi~sweet
well.. we're all entitled to our own opinions so i guess we cant really say much bout those haters.. i do feel a lil upset when i see people post bout how they dislike the album & stuff but hey, as long as we like it who cares wad they think? also, if there're no haters then we cant tell if there're lovers. we wont be able to tell apart the people who like or dislike. its always great to know that there're still people out there like us who are still Diru fans.
lol.. for a moment i wondered wad i might have said if i didnt like the album.. will i be like the haters? nah... i really still think the album is good..

@andie
yep! the bonus cd is great!

so true i just get so mad oh well i guess all i can do is keep loving diru

well said both semi-sweet and mae.
I'm personally not a huge diru fan -but- I would never put them down. a few pages earlier I was poking fun at Kyo but honestly I would never really come onto a thread dedicated to a band and talk smack about them. thats just wrong. I mean if you don't like the band at all then don't come on the thread. nobody asked you here and nobody on here cares what you think.
well thats my two cents worth. rock on all of you, and remember without the fans the band's wouldn't make it as far as they have.

@daki
hmm...in some way I think Kyo even shows more emotion with his screaming than in his slow songs (it's just that I first pay attention to the slower songs and then to the faster ones )
lately I could really feel his desperate and anger during this songs. Screaming is his way to express what he feels and he does it very well. These songs touch my heart too, but in another way than the slower songs do. It's kind of hard to explain but sometimes I just feel more connected to the fast songs and his screaming.

@yuna_leska
that video was funny^^
kyo would seriously kill you if he ever saw that (or at least start to scream till you can't hear anymore^^)

@Saishu
thanks for the links!!
I could only watch the first part until now, but Shinya was sooo cute trying to speak english

@semi~sweet
yeah I know those situations...my mom often stares at me like I was a crazy person (wait...I am a crazy person)

@dakkii
I think such people aren't real fans and don't think before they talk. Either you dislike a band, but then you leave it and its fans alone, or you like the band and don't protest against it. And if you really dislike something by a band you like, you should have good reasons and act mature and not found a "protest" group. Plus I'm sure it hurted Diru in some way that "fans" are against their album, on which they worked hard and in which the put a lot of emotion.

I totally agree. It doesn't really have to be a fast song, and the song I MOST connect with (The Final) doesn't have any screaming really (besides the one quick one), but his screaming has sooo much emotion behind it. Again, I'll bring up dead tree and Kodou. The two screams towards the end of Kodou...I can't help but shiver. They are my most favorite Kyo screams ever (does that sound weird?).

I can't help but pretend I'm the one screaming whenever that part comes around. I know I look like a freak. Ah well. There just seems to be so much feeling behind those two screams, and they are so perfectly placed within the song. I actually don't like the video because of that...the long pause ruins the intention to me.

But...yeah, hehe. Basically, I agree.

I've always thought that too. As much as I love Kodou, I can't stand that pause. It's like the song has this great buildup, and then whoooooops nevermind, let's take an extened breather.

hmm...that does'nt sound weired to me, i love those screams also

yes same here i love kyos emotional screams and its almost like when he screams i can feel the emotion go thru my whole body (ok that came out alittle wierd) but yeah thats how i feel

i like the song version of kodou more, of course, but i like the way they did it for the pv... i was totally expecting the scream, and then it wasn't there... which makes you stop for a second and focus completely on the pictures (dead school girl thrown out of car... kid going to jail... wasn't that the same kid in saku, by the way?) and connect everything that happens in the pv (if you hadn't already, i guess)... it just makes it dramatic. but more importantly, the scream then comes out of NOWHERE, giving it more power, i think ^_^ it also helps that the timing it perfect.
and about fast songs vs. slow songs... this is a cop-out answer, but every diru song is totally loaded with emotion... they are just different emotions. in my earlier diru years, i thought certain songs were more emotional than other songs because i related to them more... but since then every once in a while, i would listen to a certain song when i was in a certain mood and it would all just click into place... so now almost every song has a special meaning to me... which makes it hard to listen to other music sometimes XD

EDIT: oh and the scream thing is the most normal thing in the world. i, too, am totally incapable of NOT kodou screaming at the end ^_^ also i have to sing the "wo-oh"s in child prey... and the chorus of clever slezoid... and our favorite part of ASOM (hint: makes people around you turn around with a horrified expression ^_~)

... i seem totally incapable of short posts when it comes to this thread too much love[obsession?] i guess...

Haha...and the "So I can't live"s of The Final, too!!

This brings up an interesting topic: what specific parts of Dir en grey songs can you not help but sing along to? A couple of good ones were mentioned already ("So I can't live" from The Final and the chorus to Clever Sleazoid), but I have a few others.

"todokanai hanare te shimau/kegare no nai yasashisa ni namida to nemuritai" -- Conceived Sorrow

"Kill them all with the crazy hammer and destroy their thoughts/get hysterical!" -- The Fatal Believer

"chikau kotoba mo nai nagasu mo kare te/tonight I go mad" -- Disabled Complexes

All the melodic lines in Saku

The chorus to Marmalade Chainsaw

heh... all of Macabre (the song, not the album)

Quite a few lines in Machiavellism are definite additions to that list, too. Not to mention the chorus.

"Showtime! haha, showtime."

"My comupance, your ignorance. Uuugh!"

"Please come to the last gasp with me. My Pleasuuuuure!"

ah.. for me the all-time sing along is definitely Kodou.. its like i've heard the song so many times over that i can prolly sing along to it (cept for kyo's screams which are so d*** impossible to do)

as for the other songs, well, they've already been mentioned by others.. (ok.. i'll admit that i'm just plain lazy to type.. since they're all already listed just scroll up =P)

LOL. XD

"Kill them all with the crazy hammer and destroy their thoughts/get hysterical!" -- The Fatal Believer
yeah i sing that a lot...or shout, whatever...
There's also:
"Psycho killer" -Disabled Complexes
"spark and spark" -the IID empire
"saikou no BARAADO wo okurou" -Beautiful dirt
"Dead freedom!" - C
"hurry up! hurry up! wrist-cut show!" - machiavellism.

yes! i can't help but sing ALL of machiavellism and the "demo..." (and the rest of that line) leading into the chorus of the final... also:
-"in my head a blue fish has just died" -MR NEWSMAN
-"check it up 1 2 3 4 5 are you ready" -MR NEWSMAN
-"kill" -GDS
-"FOOCHA" -domestic fxxker family
-[random screaming] -obscure
-chorus in ryoujoku no ame... especially the held-out note
-"i don't even think of you as my friend" -THE DEEPER VILENESS
-that beginning scream in saku [and the rest of it too...]
-i always sing "good morning" [in english, not the japanese it's supposed to be in] at the end of kodou... i love that last stanza so much... i love that whole SONG so much (but all of you know ^_^ awsome-sauce)

more later? *sleepy time*
