Headbangers Ball is a show on MTV2, but I'm not sure what time since I don't ever watch MTV2, but if you went to MTV's website you could probably find out what time it's on =?

Ok, so I ran into this from Go's Blog. And apparently it says Dir en grey has a nomination for an MTV award????

eH? MTV in Japan? US? Isn't that about the MTV2 music video nomination for Saku?

It doens't say. But its for MTV US. I thought it was the HBB ball thing as well. But someone said it was a nomination for an actual award. IDK whats what.

The article says that on the 15th a Japanese rock band, Dir en grey, was nominated for the first time on MTV. It mentions that Headbangers Ball is the program that nominated the "saku" pv, and that "saku" made it to number 4 on the Oricon charts (in 2004) and that it sold well.

And I didn't realize that Dir en grey was still referred to as visual kei (in Japan)? The article says the "visual kei band Dir en grey". ☝

Ohhhh How cool, nominated ! I never knew! >.<

Yah, I found it a bit weird to Pink_Usagi_Chan, they're not visual kei anymore =S

Thanks to those that helped me with my question.

Wow so Diru got nominated? Any idea as to what date in December?

I'm confused about what you guys are talking about too, but it sounds like good news, so I'm glad.

Anyways, I got to see them a few months back with the Family Values Tour down at Tampa and I even got to shake hands with Die and Kaoru and I got Withering to Death signed by everyone. It was so awesome. It was seriously like a dream come true.

Then, last week my friend told me they scheduled a show at the House of Blues here in Orlando for February 2nd and I just went crazy jumping up and down. I seriously can't believe it. I'm dying to see them again. They're definitely incredible to see in person. Tickets go on sale today and one of my friends should be going to get ours today. *melts* I so can't wait.

^ Ah you're lucky to live so close to the place where they're having their 10 yr anni show. I would love to go to that show but its too far from where I am.

I still consider Diru to be a VK band, however I think that they've become more of a blend between Vk and Koi Kei now a days. Like any look VK has evolved to be able to survive in changing times (doesn't mean that I don't favor the old look tho' ). So while maybe they're not 100% VK I definitely believe that their look has a kei attached to it.

I don't think its the HeadBangers Ball thing. I think its an actual nomination for an MTV award. But I don't think they are a finalist you know. They are just nominated.

^I think Sean (I think that's his name. Olivia's Slave?) on soompi said he got an email back. They should reply soon.
To start off, I respect your opinion and I don't think its right or wrong. (Just so no misunderstandings occur )
But I don't consider them VK anymore. And they don't consider themselves VK either. To me they just look like a bunch of guys who love to rock. And currently the clothes they wear are more "normal" (though still very stylish) and they say they just wear whatever they want when they go on stage. There's no costumes or dress up. For me visual kei usually involves elaborate make up and costume to stir the "visuals." And since Diru doesn't do that anymore they aren't considered VK.

Yay! I'm happy for everyone that got their tickets already! I hope you all have a wonderful time and that there won't be any further hitches in the road for you.

@Precious4e Yeah I can see what you mean, hence the reason I put the koi kei in there as well. I think the days of visual as defined by MM and other bands are pretty much dead but I do think that koi is taking over in its place - even if they don't exhibit all the distinct looks for it. @___@ Ah! Who knows! I mean after all its to my understanding that the only person really defining koi now a days is MYV, right, however I've heard a number of people start to use the term to describe diru since they've started wearing the more toned down look. Guh, I've confused myself so I'll be quite.

Well on the New OHP they have these words that scroll down that talks about the bands evolution. Let me see if I can type them up.

It's their 10th year aniversary show?! Seriously?
Wow...if it actually is, then I feel like a bad fan for not knowing. >.<
Aren't they having any shows up there in NY? cuz if there are then I'd love to tell another one of my friends about it. ^.^

^ It's in New York City. All the tickets are on sale now. I got mine already ^^

@hide my heart: koi kei is used to described basically all the bands in PSC lol especially Miyavi and Alice Nine and Gazette. Though I'm not even sure what koi kei really is, I read somewhere that it's more "glam rock." If it is then I can't really see Diru as that lol. I'm still wondering when the term koi kei even came out lol.

Yeah me too. o.o I didn't really think it applied and yet a bunch of people were using it when speaking of Diru, which was confusing since I've always applied it to MYV and Gazette. :? I dunno, I think its one of those terms that doesn't have a concrete definition yet? Oh well, I think Nana is going to come back with something so she can get me to shut up once and for all.

Does anyone know if any of the other sales have sold out yet? Obviously the fan base has somewhat multiplied like crazy in the states so it'd be interesting to see what happens. Didn't the last tour sell out in 36 hrs?

thank you for the link Nana ^_^ i'm waiting for the video to load. I really liked the sample barks had up and was waiting for the whole pv ^^

So I watched the new pv. And all I can say was It is very well drawn. Sore dake desu.

lol @ the little girl. She was so cute, I liked her a lot.

But as for the rest of it . . .

Well, artistically it was very well done. However I don't think any of it really fit that well with the song (not lyric wise, but music wise) . For me the music and the images were completely disconnected. Over all I think Diru could have done much better.
