Could someone help me convert english to all the styles of Japanese language

Hi..
I just stumbled upon this site.. and it was pretty informative.. thanxs to u guys now i even decided to join the site..

Well.. I'm in love and my girl friends name is Ashita..I would like to tatoo her name in japanese becoz the name does have a meaning in Japanese..

Anyone of my new buddies think you could help me.. if all the styles cant be put across i could take the best and get it tatooted.. and she would be extra thrilled!!

Is your girlfriend (or her name, at least) Japanese? Ashita is a Japanese word (meaning tomorrow), but it's no name I've ever heard of... If she couldn't understand her own name written in kanji, is there a point in getting it printed on your skin?

So, her name isn't normally written in kanji (or hiragana or katakana, for that matter)? Why would you want to write her name in a foreign language, especially if it changes the meaning to something unrelated?

Ashita apparently is a Japanese name, though not one I've ever heard of, and there are a few ways to spell it. Later today I will post a bunch. But how long have you been dating this girl? Even a wholly solid relationship can fall apart, and I doubt that future girlfriends would be impressed to hear that you have an ex's name permanently inked on you.

This is a big reason why I never help out in tattoo threads. They say love is forever, but unlike love, tattooes can only be surgically removed.

These mean, from top to bottom:
dawn (though most Japanese would not know it as that)
morning (most Japanese would pronounce it as "asa")
morning sun (most Japanese would pronounce this as "asahi," and this is the name of a large newspaper publisher)
reed field
reed field
reed field
morning

Only the first three are classified female names. The next three are surnames and the last was unspecified in my dictionary, but since none of these is her name to begin with, I guess it doesn't matter which one you go with. Hindi letters look cool. Wouldn't they be more meaningful?

Anyway, I can reproduce any one of these in a variety of styles.

Why don't you have it tattooed in one of the Indian languages? Surely that might be better for her, as it would be in a language she can read and understand, rather than have it in a langauge neither of you understand. You never know, she might appreciate it even more if it is in Hindi script rather than Kanji.

Most likely "joey" and his girlfriend are Indians working in the UAE. That's very common.

Seeing as he hasn't replied recently, no doubt he is getting "aho" tattooed on himself this very moment.

If you *must* do it, then I concur that getting her name done in her native tongue sounds best, I don't see why Japanese would be any better.

yep guys i totally agree.. but i'm gonna get married to her nxt year.. and think this would be the best way to go ahead and propose to her..if it's og any grace.. she has my name tatooed on her already.. well tht too in english!!!!.. but since her name has a meaning in japanese i thought why not tattoo it in tht language.. hope all the airs r cleared!!

If you could it would be gr8.. the reason is in hindi.. it doesn't have much of a meaning.. and if we did fall apart.. not sure i would be getting jiggy with a japanese gal (no offense meant.. but not many japanese in my part of town!!)

Nah nuthing like tht.. we had the national day holiday here in Dubai.. and tht means loads of fun activities.. and i'm an avid desert driver.. so got a club and went dune bashing(basically driving around in the desert..for the ill informed!)..and has luck as it.. my car got conked.. and was stuck in the desert for 12 hours in rain and the cold..(brr.. still sends a shiver down the spine)..waiting for the recovery to arrive.. but finally now back to civilization!).. praise god for tht!

the ones u showed me..had different names on it.. i would like the word "ASHITA" in the various styles of japanese.. well forgive my ignorance.. i thought the different styles of japanese meant the writing styles would be different!!..u got to educate me on this.. !!

joey might be referring to hiragana and katakana, in which case ashita would be あした and アシタ. There are a ton of "styles" to write these three sets of characters, but those are all just aesthetic differences (like calligraphic vs handwriting vs block printing)
