Kinda interested about this sentencve I found on another forum, peiople were asking on how to interpret it and I didnt like the explanation they gave and could not follow.

ああ、オレには過ぎたものだがね。この鎧は名も知れず、銘を捨てたものどもの理想の残滓。

How do you interpret the last part

銘を捨てたものどもの理想の残滓

so I looked it up and ものども means "you" apparently. I dont have any context but could anyone tell me the possible meaning of this? Im perplexed. Also does one read that as ざんし or ざんさい, the dictionary gives both readings as such. And im wondering which i would hear more often

Also for the first one I still don't really understand I read everything ms said, but I honestly don't see how that can mean what the sentence says. Mabye you can tell me your interpretation? sorry I am slow

MS says basically the sentence is a) written by someone who has a reputation for writing odd sentences, and b) the use of 銘 (signature/maker's mark/engraving) renders the sentence somewhat inscrutable. Fans of the game have suggested that 銘 is mistakenly used as the name of the actual weapon (and not as the creator's signature, as should be the case). MS comments that even if that were the case the sentence itself would still be incomprehensible. He suggests to just skip over it as something vaguely cool-sounding, but without real meaning.

I have no idea of the context of the game, and characters, so I submit this with zero confidence:

This armor (suit of armor) is the last remnants of an ideal held by those whose names are forgotten, and who have given up their weapons/signatures?

JIMO, "honor" seems to be close to what the writer wanted to say by 銘, as another member mentioned in the thread Majestic-san linked avobe.

thnx, so i presume monodomo, is rather archaic and not used often? First time hearing it tbh.

You've never seen 者 and the pluralizer ども before?

Keep them in mind; they're both commonly encountered elements in modern Japanese. Think of ども as a more formal alternative for 達.

When ものども is used as a calling without any modifying clause, it means お前たち, i.e., "you", as in ものども、かかれ！. This word is often used in samurai dramas.
