Having issues getting this sentence to make sense when translated...

今日は倶楽部部員以外の各教室の代表に見せる公聞映画 の日なの.

From what I've discerned, it should read something like:

"Today we're showing public movies to all of the class representatives, except for club members."

Except that it doesn't make sense, as this is spoken by someone during a club meeting. Anyone have another take on the structure here?

- Also, I'm unsure of the use of 公聞 as meaning "Public". anyone have a better idea?

I presume it means they've invited the class representatives who aren't already club (film club, or something?) members.

公開 (not 公聞) often refers to the "release" of a movie. Perhaps (making up context), this is something like the club members have made a film, and then they do a sort of "premiere" showing for the class representatives, and then the rest of the students see it during the Obligatory Cultural Festival Episode.

映画公開の日 is used for that context. 公開映画の日 doesn't make much sense, indeed. (It might be supposed to mean "open" in the same sense as "French Open" for "Roland Garros".)
