Common religious believes in Japan

Hello. A part of the forms of Buddhism practiced by the different Buddhist schools around Japan, I'm interested in the common and popular believes of Japanese lay people and how they manage the contradictions between Shinto & Buddhism.

Someone know by any chance if there is any most popular or prevailing belief in afterlife, in a supernatural world, etc?

There exists in Japan genuinely Shintoist people untainted of Buddhist religious elements?

I am alluding to at least the idea of reincarnation and to the Buddhist cosmological world. It is not known to me any similar thing in pre-Buddhist Shinto.

Related to that I think it would be a good idea to ask if someone knows whether the concepts of Takama-ga-hara (高天原) and Yomi (黄泉) survived at some level the introduction of Buddhism without major interruptions, being today still part of the Japanese majority folk believes.
