clubbing in Japan

sooo...it's the general rule that the initiator pays in Japan?.. cuz over here there are no good set of rules for that and some of my gfs just sort of expected my broke *** to pay for everything..

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy paying up and acting the nice guy that spoils his girlfriend or whatever.. but in that case it has to be on my terms.. just after payday, sure.. when i'm broke and the girl wants to go get something, no.
 
Depend, as always, on the girl.

A few girls I've been out with have been all to happy to pay their own way. Some have stubbornly insisted they do when I offer to pay.

Others kinda expect me too pay for them.

One recently at the movies was fun,
We decide to see Spiderman 2. She just stands there when I walk to the ticket booth, making no effort to make a pretence of paying or anything.
 
Rofl. I tend to pay for some things, like I went out to dinner last night, she paid for her meal and I paid for mine, and then the drinks etc.

The other thing I do is find good discounts on things. For example I can get really cheap movie tickets, or half price "gold" (private cinema, 30peeps, recliners, waiters, alcohol etc) tickets which makes for a fun night out. Overall you dont need to pay for everything, it makes you look like your trying to buy them out.

Agree about Roppongi.

Try somewhere chic like Harajuku, Ebisu, Dikenyama (sp?) or Ometosando.
 
I think that if you are a guy taking a girl out you should always pay (unless she really insists) it's the gentleman like thing to do. and alot of girls do like it when a guy spend no expense on them ( I think that only very cynical girls will think you ar trying to buy them out!)
 
For the most part... in America Guys pay for Girls... and from what I've seen Girls pay for Guys.

Everytime me and my girl went somewhere, she always tried to pay for me. (Unless I was fast and already had my money out, lol)

I asked her if this was usual that Girls pay for Guys and she said it was.
When I asked her why she replied, "The guys are always broke because they spend their money on Pachinko" rofl...

Kerei_na_me: eer... I have question. I read on various sites that Japanese men aren't eer.. loving and affectionet towards their wife. You said, "not so sure about the sweet part"... So I'm guessing this is true?

I don't mean to pry into your personal life (Though it seems I am, lol). No need to answer if you don't want to. I'm just overly curious person (^_^)
 
aaaaaaaaah I don't know how there are guys in this world who can live without being affectionate and loving to their spouse/ girlfriend I just don't think it's right!!! lol whats the point in having a girlfriend or wife if your not going to love them? Some guys need to take a look at themselves and their motives. (I mean this in no offence to any particular person)
 
I suggest Ikebukuro (池袋) if your going somewhere to eat. Cheap and very tasty restaurants.

that is "WE decided". not "SHE decided"
if she says "let's go to a movie"
then when there, "i want to see this movie"

sorry for dragging this up from the front page but i would be really really grateful if anyone knows of any good places in fukuoka. Im not to into the dance music, but im sure there has to be some alternative and jazz/blues places there. But i cant seem to find any with my google searches.

Im going to be going to japan full-on Han-solo now.. so i really want to go to some nights out and watch some bands play.

that should help you out a bit. anyways i just wanted to clear up some points about the main topic of discussion, just incase people glazed over it.

1. Drinking age and clubbing age do not matter in Japan. You will have no problem getting in a club (especially if you ar a foreigner) no matter how young you look. Trust me on this. So the age doesnt' even matter because you will not have a problem.

2.Shibuya is a better club scene than roppongi for sure, but I guess it can be subjective. I like roppongi as well (especially velfarre..and this neat hamburger shop called 'freshness burger' or something)

anyways you should check out both places and decide for youself. japan is bad *** anywhere you go..so you can't go wrong with roppongi.

i guess that's it mm? haha alright well happy clubbing!
