Can someone with a Criminal Record Move to Japan?

Concerned Bahamians feat that one of Canada's most infamous convicts, Karla Homolka, is either residing or vacationing in the Bahamas.
Several media reports claim that she is living in the Caribbean with her new family. They say photographs have surfaced showing her posing at one of New Providence's top resorts.
Immigration officials claim that when a person's passport is scanned upon arrival in the country, they can see whether the person has been convicted or spent time in jail.
Photos surfaced on the internet of Homolka with her new husband porn model Luka Magnotta. They have a three year old son. Karla has changed her name to Leanne Teale and Luka goes by the alias Thierry Bordalis the reports claim. When our reportes contacted Homolka's family, her mother said "Both are planning on moving to Japan".
I posted this because this is disgusting, how do they plan on living in Japan when they cant even speak Japaneese????????
I dont think they will survive.... can they even legally enter the country?

I'm sorry to ask.. but why should you care where those three are going to move to?
And who is Karla Homolka?

Scanning a passport and fingerprints and getting information about one's criminal record is not instantaneous. This is not the age of Star Trek. The answer would come back in a day or 2.

You are not supposed to be able to enter if you have a criminal record (especially a felony, while other lesser crimes may be exempt), but if you can doctor your passport and/or visa application, I suppose it's possible.

Oh, and one does not need to know Japanese language to live here. It's done all the time.

Are you sure? On the two times I have visited America, I have seen people instantly turned away when having their passports scanned, citing the reason as being that they had a criminal record.

Finally, an answer to your question:

No, Karla Homolka doesn't stand a chance at all of "moving to Japan". How would she do it? She is a convicted felon and even if she managed to slip into the country as a tourist for 90 days or less, there is no way she would be able to pass a criminal record check to live there permanently. You cannot move permanently to a new country under an alias. There has to be some record of your past, which will definitely keep her from passing immigration. Also, at their age and without any formal education (that's an assumption, but I doubt Homolka nor the porn star are qualified to work in Japan) I'm sure there is no way those to clowns would be polluting Japan with their presence.

are you sure they dont have your background when they scan your fingers? i have a felony on my record and i already booked my flight and hotel for this April i dont want to be sent back over something stupid i did from nearly 8 years ago. I hope by just checking no on the disembarkation form when it asks if you've ever been convicted of a crime and saying nothing unnecessary will be enough to get into the country
