I don't know why I'm wondering about this, but is there any special tradition or something that one has to do until he's considered a man in Japan? Or anything even slightly related to that?

Also, do you guys know of any other traditions like this? In other places, I mean. Something like, "You have to kill a pig before you become a man." or "You have to walk on hot coals." Something like that.

The truth...

lies within the deepest caves underneath Kyuuhuu. You must travle alone to find your destiny in the Daikon keppyaku tsuton!

an inupiaq eskimo tradition is you become a man when you shoot your first seal

I know that when you reach 20yrs old that it is a very special day for the person. If I am correct that is their official adult-hood age.

Cheers S!

ive gotta come to japan for my 20th, cause turning 18 didnt quite hack it (18 is the legal age in aus, a day of much merrymaking and doing things that arent so naughty anymore, which kinda fizzed out in japan cause im still underage)

I'll be turning 20 here in Japan~~~ I wonder if i will get to wear a kimono and take a picture like my wife did~ hmmm....
