Battle Royale 1 & 2

i have got a little chubby i blame it on that guy round the corner who sells sugar!

I haven't even seen the movies or better yet I havent even read the second battle royale

the first film is one of my favourite films of all time......
it was amazing i thought.

i have a question, where can you get battle royale besides ordering on the internet? i've tried to download it but it wont work, and none of the stores have it TnT help...

No stores have it? Hm.. this is usually the one asian movie they DO have.. :? In Sweden no one even knows what Japan IS, but I still managed to find Battle Royale in a store... YATTA!

Hm.. besides the internet, I dunno - gomen!!

TnT ok i will go search search and search! *is determined to get it*

you live in china right?, well i dunno where to get copies there...i got mine from HMV for 24 pounds the special ediotion with the second disc and collectors card.......sorry..

lol i actually live in Canada...it'd be much easier to get my hands on the movie if i was in china *smirk* you say you got it at HMV eh?... i will check one day maybe they will have it.^^ blockbuster definatly dont have it T_T

wow... *runs to there* lol i will go check asap XDDDDDDDDDDD thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no problem, its in the world cinema section but you probaly knew that anyway, had any luck finding it there?

I have seen both movies and BR 1 is one of my absolute favorites! It's really a shame, that a lot of people (in Denmark anyway) don't wanna give the movie a chance because it's japanese (and not the typical hollywood movie)..
About BR 2.. Not too crazy about that one, but that could just be because of my high expectations for it.

the first film was amazing. i loved it. everything about it was cool. though, it did take about 20 bullets to kill each person. but oh well.
i can't really give my opinion on the second film due to the fact that i haven't seen it. my friends tell me that its a bad movie and not really worth watching.
i recently bought the book "battle royale." i'm not too far in it, but so far its really different from the movie.

For some reason when I saw Battle Royale it made me start buying and watching more and more modern Japanese films. Up until then I had been mostly into older Japanese films.

i saw the first one. that mitsuko was dirty... and i like it. she is so, deceitful. me and my friend couldn't help but laugh when that one chick on the tv was explaining the rules because she was all peppy and perky. it was an overall good movie. i still havent seen the second one yet though.

I've only seen the first one too.. mainly because I've heard too many bad things about the second one to want to watch it! The first is one of my favorite films of all time though!

haha thread = old'd
but they are amazing films and i dont care what anyone says, the second film is amazing.

when they are allgetting blown to **** in the boats XD

Okay, I enjoyed the first film... I may have commented in this thread previously, I forget. There were some memorable cinematic moments in the second film, though they were generally stolen from Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan.... but it was essentially, a meaningless movie done by the son of the original director of BR I. In the end, it tacked on a tasteless diatribe about terrorist insurgents, and well, had more than a bit too much screaming "kakkoii teens" including the protagonist to be enjoyable, said protagonist, now looking like a man fresh out of Choki Choki, to be all that fun...

Simple fact. Japan can ruin an original franchise with a single sequel. I say this because people seem to revere Japanese POP-CULTURE movies as if they were ALWAYS superior to their other-kin counterparts... but generally, sequels in Japan are wretched. In my over-opinionated opinion.

I have found this true with practically every Japanese sequel, except for the sequel to "Suicide Club", "Noriko's Dinner Table". I thought the sequel was a much more interesting movie than its predecessor.

That's probably because Jisatsu Circle was a horrible movie to begin with! It's not too hard to improve on something so messy and incoherent as that film!

I'll have to check out Noriko's Dinner Table... thanks for the head's up. I think it's a trilogy, is it not?

Now that you mention it, I think Sion Sono announced a third movie. However I'm not sure if they have finished it yet.

Also before you dive into Noriko's Dinner Table, Its nothing like the first movie. It's very slow, and very dialogue driven. Also it's nearly 3 hours!!!!

I guess that thing is just my cup o tea though 😌.

Try watching Edward Yang's movie Yi Yi, it clocks in around 3 hours (It's a Taiwanese movie by the way), and is probably my favourite movie... It's just soooooh difficult to get anyone to watch with you!

Three hours? Subtitles? ...you know the drill.

Battle Royale I was awesome! Freaky story-line that frightened me and it had Beat Takeshi! Battle Royale II sucked big time though. WAY too far fetched, too much of a useless rant against America, and a pretty bad story-line IMHO. Honestly, first you kill hundreds of government trained soldiers with just you and two others, and then you move to Afghanistan! Really out there I thought. Maybe the guy who made it thought Osama was a good person...*not trying to be an *** or anything, I know he wouldn't think that*
