Ban on japanese swords

There has been a few problems with gangs using them to intimidate people, & four killings, Which i dont feel there is justification for a complete ban.

This goverment is set out to please every minority group, that complains.
They are making it more difficult for the true collecter.
Look what happened when they banned guns!
There are more guns than ever on the streets.
I hadn't heard a thing about it, but it is a typical knee jerk r4eaction that our current buch of idiot government is likely to do
BTW: Owning guns in the UK is not illegal. They have just upped the permission you need to own one. For handguns it used to be the local Chief Constable, now it is the Home Secretary. You can still own rifles and shotguns by going to the police. No gun is actually banned in the UK, not even full autos.
The odd thing about this is I own several weapons deadlier than a handgun, re-usable ammo, silent and yet there is no regulation on owning one. A 9 year old could legally own one, I know several that do. The name of this weapon? A bow.

heres the thing it might not be that bad an idea to ban them for poor quality since wallhangers as they are called in the martial arts(kendo, iaido, battojutsu) can actually be really dangerous, i think 1 fatality from a sword snapping in half and impaling someone in aussi land. but i also think that it should be an internal system, like for movies and games instead of government interference. but even a government ban on swords cheaper $300 is not so bad considering how dangerous and poor quality they are. so if the gov needs get involved(which it really doesn't) ban swords below that point and then people will not be willing to pay that much for them unless they have a reason(ie. kendo....)
but i wonder if maybe they shouldn't ban rocks next considering how many times in history people have been killed with those....

that ban is just stupd, as well as the reasons. If someone commited a crime using a katana, it would do it again, this time with a jian or whatever.

Where I live, if you need your weapon for your martial art, and have the paper work, Then your fine and can carry it around to and from your Dojo and home. I myself have the paper work to carry my Nunchuks. :)

stupid laws, you can get a concealed weapons license for guns but not carry them out in the open or carry knives, or big extremely visible katana's.
