Hi all..
Just returned from my trip to Tokyo...it was a blast~ Spent 12 days in Tokyo eating and eating and people watching. The only thing that really got to me was the weather...I'm not good at handling humidity...so I got some rather uncomfortable itches on several occasions. Will have to post some pics later.

I will be also making a trip trip to Taipei soon and wanted to know if any of you forum members have had the opportunity to visit bith Taipei and Tokyo...and if so, could you maybe give me some insight on the differences in Taipei compared to Tokyo? I understand they are 2 different beasts, though I'm always curious to hear from guys' opinions and experiences...thanks

Uhhh. I don't need to see uncomfortable itch pictures.

if any of you forum members have had the opportunity to visit bith Taipei and Tokyo...

I have!

I have lived in Japan for too long, and visited Taiwan in May, I think I was in Taipei for like 3 days.

It's really really different. Nothing in Japan compares to the night markets, moped craziness, and yatai's (eating outside booth things) of Taipei.

I really had a good time in Taiwan, I love that place.

The night markets are insanely huge, and going every single day...

Random notes from my trip.
Night Markets: Shilin, just outside Jiantan MRT station, and Gongguan, just near Gongguan MRT station are probably the best-known and easiest to find.

If you have time for a day trip, I recommend going to Jiufen.

hey thanks~
the links are great@! The pictures are amazing. I'll be there for about 12 days...hopefully i wont get bored.

oh...i guess i'll holdoff on the sweet itch pics...darn...I'm sure taipei will have its own set of fun and games.

peace~😌

i had an awful time in taipei and don't plan to ever go again
one big difference to me:
having to haggle all of the time to buy anything.
some people just charge more especially because they are selling to a "foreign" person

the end result was that i felt like near bout half the people i met were trying to scam me
to be fair, i saw some of this in japan, but then again, i see some of it in america too
it was just really to the point of being irritating in in taiwan and i left after the second day to get out of there
it rains there even more than japan, imo and is hotter
tokyo is dirty, but its a different kind of dirty also -- although that may very well change in the future, what with the advancement of neet and all
but to each their own, and good luck.
if a person is of the right race and meets the right people, they might like it...

hope this was enough explanation for why i said what i said

budd, when were you in Taipei?

I was there last year, and I did -not- have to haggle.

I was in China the year before, (beijing) an yes, had to haggle like crazy to avoid paying 3 times price for everything.

However, in Taipei this was not necessary at all.

If Budd found troubles in Taiwan, he/she can travel around few countries.

Is the guy famous in Taiwan? I bet his name would be Youdao...
