attending highschool in Japan

I'm really wanting to go to Japan for an exchange. Up until today I was thinking I would go for a summer (4 weeks or more) and just have language classes and stay with a family etc and I found a few programs that let me do exactly that. But, for a while I have been thinking about actually being able to attend a highschool for a semester. I would like to still be able to stay with a host family, but is it possible to find a program that lets me attend a highschool? I've researched quite a bit about it, but I can't seem to find one that I feel would accept me. The thing is, you need an overall GPA of at least a 2.5 in most of them, and I am not that good in math and sciences (except biology, and with my average math mark from grade 9-11 being no higher than a 60%, except for the one year I went to summerschool and got a 68%). But grades in all my other classes are always 80% or higher. My math/science marks are always low enough to bring my average way down. If I need to learn Japanese before I go, that is no problem, even though the closest reputable school is 1 1/2 hours away from me. Also, if the age restriction is maximum 18, that is fine. I am willing to do anything I can to go to Japan! My parents fully support me, but insist I pay half. I am just having troubles finding a good program that I feel would accept me, and I'm worried if I apply I won't get accepted! I know that I have to apply first to see if they WILL accept me. If anyone here has recently gone to Japan for a semester exchange please tell me what program you went with, or any other tips or whatever you may have for me!

If your profile age is accurate, then aren't you on your way out of high school? I'm not sure what you mean that "learning Japanese is no problem," does that mean you already speak it, or have already been studying for a number of years?

I'm sure you've heard this before, but it'd be foolish not to ask: what makes you so anxious to get to Japan?

No, the age is not accurate. This account was originally made for my sister, but she said she would never go on here, so I'm on it now. I just haven't changed it yet.

I meant that I am learning, I have been for a year now, I am not able to regularly get together with my tutor, but I am working really hard when I can in my spare time from regular school and work. Obviously I won't know perfect japanese but I will be able to comprehend most of what is going on. Also, most programs where you go and attend the school that my friends have been to to other countries (the same program doesn't offer exchanges to Japan) don't require you to know the language fluently, because it is supposed to be a chance to learn it more/better from the native country.

I want to go to Japan for a number of reasons. I want to try to understand the country and its perspectives, I want to learn more about the people, about the way they live, about how the country works. And not from reading it online, or in a book or through a movie. I want to experience first hand what it is like to live there. I still am not 100% sure about what I want to do with my life, but I've always wanted to be an english teacher of some type, or a translator. So I want to learn as many languages as I can, no matter how long it will take me. And I would like to learn the languages by being in the country. I also want to travel to as many countries as I can. I would like to take a year after highschool and just travel around the world, and I figure since my money will be limited, I want to start with Japan, while my parents are willing to pay half (even though I'll return home before going anywhere else).
