well, i know that they use twitter a bit more then google + (akari, for example; since i check her twitter page often ^^) ,

Yes, and this is one of the things you can easily check yourself by putting ツイッター into a search engine to verify this is what is used in Japan. Or, bring up Twitter on wikipedia and then click on the Japanese language option.
