I have always been interested in the Japanese architectural style. It's got a distinct Asian feel without being too elaborate.
I want to know what is unique to Japan in terms of architecture. What did the Japanese invent? One example I have found is that the lower roof of the Todai-ji Daibutsuden has a "bump" I have not seen in any other Asian culture. Small details like this are what i am looking for. :123:
I think a forum of real people would turn up more interesting results than a google search. Searching the forum turns up no 'acceptable' results.

I don't know about building architecture, but I think there are a few unique features in japanese landscape architecture, like the Torii (those big red gates in front of shinto shrines), rock gardens from zen temples, bamboo fountains, and bonsai..
I would think the building design is similar to Chinese? Small details.. like crests may be unique.. no idea..

Anyway, all the best on your research!
