Anyone ever tried ABSINTHE?

Has anyone ever had this? What was it like? I was thinking of trying some next time I go to Canada or Europe. Supposedly it is legal to buy it online and have it shipped to America from Europe, but I'm not sure I want to risk it...

My roommate just finished off a bottle of it, but I didn't get a chance to try any. I think he got it in France or something. The modern stuff isn't very potent so you don't get any hallucinations or anything.

absinth has 70% of alcohol and has two colors red and blue like listerine it taste kinda cool and i heard there's an absinth of 80% alcohol but i think is illegal

It's not the alcohol that causes the "high", it's the thujon, so the alcohol % doesn't matter that much...

Absinth is illegal here, but you could get it in the Netherlands. However, that's only a weak version you can legally get with only few thujon in it. The strong version with high thujon contents (which was drunk a lot by van Gogh before he cut his ear off) is outlawed there as well. I don't think you can get it anywhere legally.

... wait, I just did a websearch and found this article who's just from shortly ago (7 Sep). According to it, Absinth is now legal again, but only with a very low thujon concentration of 35mg/kg. At times of van Gogh, it often had 350mg/l
