Kanji like that, fortunately, are somewhat akin to what George Carlin said about snot as a topic of conversation....if you find yourself talking about snot, you've missed some other topics on the way. If you find yourself learning kanji like that, you've almost certainly skipped stuff a hell of a lot more useful.
