One of Japan's "Three Scenic Views," Amanohashidate in Kyoto Prefecture, saw a centuries-old pine tree fall on the 26th due to the risk of collapse from severe internal hollowing. Amanohashidate, located in Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture, features a stunning three-kilometre stretch of around 7,000 pine trees, renowned as one of Japan's most picturesque landscapes. Among these, the "Funakoshi Pine," estimated to be around 650 years old, dates back to the Muromachi period and is considered one of the oldest pines in Amanohashidate. For about 20 years, the tree had been supported with wires and braces to prevent it from falling. However, with internal hollowing progressing, the Tango Civil Engineering Office in Kyoto Prefecture conducted the felling operation on the 26th to ensure safety.
