I think pets are for the very young and very old. Once out of high school and your parents house, pets are tough to fit in. You need plenty of time to relax and give them love and attention to get the love and attention back from them.I had no time for pets (to really appreciate them) until I was in my mid 40's. Before that , I didn't feel it was fair to cram them into my busy life.
Now in my late 50's , I'm amazed at the importance of my pets(2 cats) in my life.No matter how bad the day, they make it all go away when I get home and they greet me. When my wife's not home they keep me company and give me someone to talk to. At night my cat waits till I'm settled in bed and she hops up and sleeps on top of me(can't sleep without her there nowdays). My cat is a hug-a-bunny, full of love. If I'm home and setting down, she's within a few feet from me or in my lap.The world would be a horrible place to me without my pets to help me through the day. I have to admit, pets in my 20's & 30's had no place in my life and little interest to me.
