A bit of help please...and any examples if you have them too!.

I have been trying for the past couple of days to find and answer for a friend of mine regarding what are pictures or pictures and words used together to form different words called?
I want to call them word association pictures but I am not sure if that is correct.
For example;

Can you guess the answer?

Or for example an arrow pointing down, a plus sign, and the word "town"? That would be "downtown". Can anyone tell me what these are called?

Plus if anyone has any extra examples could you share them here please. Thanks ahead of time. Oh the answer above if you havent figured it out already is "Tiger Woods".
