"Wide range of other stocks took a battering. Toyota Motor plunged 245 yen, or 7.4 per cent, to 3,065 yen, while Sony fell 226 yen, or 8.9 per cent, to 2,324. Mizuho Financial Group plummeted 15 yen, 10.3 per cent, to 130 yen.
Nuclear power-linked shares were sold, with Tokyo Electric Power falling by the daily allowable limit of 400 yen, or 24.7 per cent, to 1,221 yen.
Toshiba, which delivered nuclear plant facilities at the troubled plant, closed down 80 yen, or 19.5 per cent, to 331 yen, also down by the daily limit.
