He stated that 66 individuals departed from Iran and entered Azerbaijan on Friday, while another group of 21 left Israel and reached Jordan the previous day, on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, Defence Minister Nakatani announced that he had instructed Air Self-Defence Force transport aircraft to be sent to Djibouti, where they are to remain on standby in anticipation of potentially evacuating Japanese nationals from Israel and Iran as tensions between the two nations continue to rise. The directive, issued earlier that morning to the head of the Self-Defence Forces' Joint Operations Command, was made in response to a request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Defence Ministry plans to dispatch two C-2 transport aircraft for the east African country as soon as by the end of this week from the ASDF's Miho Air Base in Tottori Prefecture. The SDF has a facility in Djibouti that serves as a base for anti-piracy operations, allowing aircraft to be on standby and receive maintenance there.
