This is a cyclist's nightmare. I only hope there won't be any copycat cases!

Police in Osaka Prefecture announced on 4 July that a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and obstructing traffic after allegedly causing a cyclist to crash by stretching a rope across a road in Habikino. The suspect, Yuki Matsumi of Fujiidera, is accused of tying a rope approximately 70 centimetres above the ground across a city street about 4.6 metres wide. At around 9:21 p.m. on 31 May, a man in his 20s collided with the rope while riding his bicycle, suffering injuries including bruising to the back of his head that required around 10 days to recover, according to police.

According to investigative sources, police believe Matsumi watched from nearby as the cyclist crashed. Police identified him after checking multiple security camera recordings from around the area. The roadway where the incident took place is a busy local street. Shortly after the crash, the driver of a passing light vehicle noticed the rope and stopped to untie it from the fence. A 56-year-old local told the Mainichi Shimbun, "Many locals rely on this place as a convenient shortcut, so the traffic volume is quite high. This act was malicious and cannot just be dismissed as a prank."

Ugh! getting clotheslined is never fun, and if you hit the right spot at the right speed it can cause terrible injuries or death. What a dick move, I wonder what he was thinking doing that

Just the force of hitting the ground, potentialy injuring your head or neck could be devastationg. Someone once swept both my feet out from under me in a karate match, causing me to fall flat on my back. This made me hurt my one or two of my costovertebral joints, the little joints that connect the ribcage to the spine. It hurt like hell. Trying to turn in bed at night, putting on clothes, hoisting my schoolbag up on my shoulder - it all felt like someone had plunged a knife into my back. It took more than six months to not make my literally cry out whenever I did motions like that, so I can only imagine how much worse this would have been if id' been clotheslined.

I hope the guy they arrested was the guy who did it. He needs to be punished. I agree with the quote, this act is too dangerous to write it off just as a prank. Whoever did it needs to understand the seriousness of his actions.

I do not get it either. It is not a particular target, I just want to hurt someone.
Here we had so late teens throwing rocks at cars front windshield on an overpass on a high traffic interestate. They hit and killed a young woman. They did get caught and have a court case.
