I wonder if he/she will wait for me.

I have heard this a couple times before, another te at the end of a te form verb. What is it doing in the sentence? よろしくお願いします。

Are you familiar with elision? It is いて just with the い dropped out.

You have been doing similar things in English all your life.

I am familiar with a construction like matte iru and tabete iru and nete iru as present progressives, but I'm not sure I've heard matte ite, tabete ite, or nete ite, maybe I have, but it's slipping my mind.

I thought 待っていて must be what it was saying but that term confused me so I thougt it might be something else.

The change from いる to いて is done in the same way and serves the same function as when you see other verbs in the ～て form.
