（え）ば vs たら

皆さん、こんにちは！これは僕の初めのポスト。
I was hoping someone could help clarify some or all of the differences between the "if" clauses ば and たら. Right now it's my understanding that ば is used in writing mostly, and たら is predominantly used in speaking. Also, it looks like たら is used for "If I were you" type phrases, and as a past tense. What else should I know to help clarify the difference between the two?

Welcome to our happy little family.

First, a friendly suggestion: don't convert Japanese text into kanji if you don't know the kanji yourself, as you can't just rely on your computer to pick the right kanji for you.

It should be: 皆さんこんにちは

Anytime you have a final "n" in the text, hit the n twice to convert to ん. Otherwise the computer will assume it the n goes with the vowel that follows it, if there is one. So for こんにちは you type konnnichiha (yes, three "n"s)
