瞬時 and 瞬間 - distinction?

Hi there.

The distinction between 瞬時 and 瞬間 is the basis of discussion. I'd appreciate it if you would share your thoughts on this.

I have come across 瞬間 more frequently, and I find it and 瞬時 to be of very similar nature. I have read some people noting that 瞬時 is appropriate in written form (more so than in speech?). I've seen 瞬時 compounded into 「瞬時に」(~instantly, in the blink of an eye), can it instead be written as「瞬間に」for the same interpretation?

I'd appreciate it more if you'd actually explain yourself instead of just linking to a website. I'd also like it if you properly present 一瞬, since that wasn't really one of the words in question (瞬時 was). I want more detailed explanations.

That's the best explanation I can give you.
一瞬 is just a typo of 瞬時, as you can easily guess from my examples. Sorry for that.

I meant absolutely nothing rude by it, so I apologize if I gave a poor impression. I want to be as direct as possible when there is something I'm wondering about and want to discuss, but I do not want to make anyone feel bad. @Toritoribe, would you say that 瞬間 refers to a brief moment/period of time, while 瞬時 is more like the exact instant/a single point in time? Just from the characters alone, that would be my inference, though I almost always see 瞬間 used, and had not seen 瞬時 before

"Modifying phrase/clause + 瞬間" refers to a specific point of time, as in my previous examples. 瞬間的に has a similar meaning to 瞬時に "immediately/instantly", but it also can be used for a very short period of time. In the examples below, 瞬間的に can't be replaced with 瞬時に. It's closer to 一瞬. Thus, 瞬間 can refer to a longer period of time than 瞬時, but it's hard to use alone, without a modifying phrase/clause or 的.
e.g.
鼻にツーンとくる刺激臭。三人とも瞬間的に視力を喪った。その隙に、小柄な男ともう一人ストッキングをかぶった男が、…
