明るく

I am trying to translate a text.
明るく楽しい音楽を.
My problem appears when I have to translate
明るく
明 means bright, but together with く it means to be open.
but with 明る I found this 明るむ, and it means to be refreshed, or to brighten.
Do I break down the text wrong?

Note that all adjectives that end with い belong to i-adjectives. For instance, きれい, ゆかい, よけい, ささい, 不似合い, 嫌い are all na-adjectives. (The first four are Chinese origin compound words (綺麗, 愉快, 余計, 些細), and the last two are derived from verbs 似合う and 嫌う, respectively.) My two cents.

So by only looking part of the sentence I missed the Howl meaning. I can see it could be a problem later on. Especially if I'm looking for a searten meaning of a kanji. But thank you again since it was the use of 明 I need.

You need to know 明るく is a conjugated form of 明るい BY YOURSELF, since these inflections are usually not in dictionaries. As long as you confuse 明るく with 明く or 明るむ, I have to say you are not prepared to interpret the sentence yet.

Okay, I understand, so because my japanese grammar is not well enough, I would not be able to translate the text. But it was just a test for myself, to see how much I could translate and get any sense out of it. So I appreciate the time you used to explain it for me.
