動詞の活用の種類？

1. in 口語, i know the difference between 五段 and 一段, but what's the difference 上一段 and 下一段 (apart from 上一段 ends in i e.g. 見る, and 下一段 ends in e eg 寝る).

and what is 下二段活用, 上二段活用, 四段活用? how do they fit in?

下二段活用, 上二段活用, 四段活用 are the terms for archaic grammar. They correspond to 下一段活用, 上一段活用, 五段活用 in modern grammar respectively.

so any difference between 上一段 and 下一段? in 広辞苑 they differenciate the two, so i think there might be something important.

That's all. The classification originated from archaic grammar, but they are often collectively called simply 一段動詞, ru-verbs, vowel verbs, etc. especially in grammar for non-native Japanese speakers. The distinction between 上一段 and 下一段 is almost meaningless in modern grammar.
