Hello,

返さないなら、出るとこ出てもらうんだからね

The speaker says this to someone who took something that wasn't theirs. I get that she is threatening to go to a teacher.

But why is ~てもらう used here?

I don't know if this makes sense, but my thinking goes like this. According to the dictionary, でるところへでる means:
公の場に訴え出てどちらが正しいかを決定してもらう。
  • I assume that でる stands for 訴え出る, so 出るとこ出てもらう would become 訴え出るとこへ訴え出てもらう, which doesn't make sense because of 訴え出てもらう.
  • It would make sense if 出るとこ出てもらう were to mean 訴え出るとこへ訴え出て決定してもらう, but I'm not sure if this is the correct way to interpret this.

So 出るところへ出る means "I will go to the police/court/etc.", while 出るところへ出てもらう means "I will have you appear before police/court/etc.", right?

Also, happy new year! :)
