So I have been learning Japanese for a month now by watching programs on youtube or listening to the radio it's been great. I ended up watching scary programs which are really cool to watch and pick up on Japanese. I happen to run across this one on youtube ほんとにあった怖い話ー怨みの代償
At the 11:30 mark her coworker asked her what's wrong and she says what happened to Kana-Chan? She replied she quit, then the other girl asked why? But given the explanation the girl's reply is too fast or there are some words I do not understand. Can someone help me understand why she quit and what she said? Can anyone write it out in Japanese? I feel like I am missing out on the whole story because I didn't understand her reply.

就任のところを電話があったんだって

Two big mistakes.

First, she says 主任, not 就任. The vowel length of the first syllable is different between 主 and 就, which you were not able to catch. Besides, 就任 is not a person; therefore, one could not say 就任のところ to mean anything.

Second, the particle following the ところ is に, not を. を is not even a possibility there.

Oops, I did actually notice that but copied my uncorrected version. When she talked, she did sound like she added a vowel, so I wrote it like I heard it, then changed it later. The を I accept full responsibility and I will go kill myself now.

Thanks for being a jerk about it. This is exactly why you get so many dead forums for language learning. You people are far too strict on simple slip ups. Note that I said "in here" which means in this forum. It's an open thread and you are fully capable of answering her questions as well. I swear this forum has such *****s in here.

Here comes the foolishness... ok but thank you for letting me know what she said. She talked so fast I couldn't get a word in to understand. BTW you can watch any of the horror stories by typing in the title. There are so many and they have helped my Japanese. Japanese horror stories involve the long black haired ghost in a white dirty dress don't know if that's their version of the hag lol...

If you watched the whole story from start to finish it was scary at first then it ended really sad by the end. Not so much a horror story but a real sad one. Thanks again guys!

There was a TV show that I use to get that combined several of these mini stories into an hour show. It was kind of a Twilight Zone copy, but I don't recall the name of it. That kind of explains the bizarre ending that these have.
