ていい、てくれる

I am not clear on the differences between ていい And てくれる。Specifically, I am wanting to ask, "Can you wait?" (before doing something)

I'm thinking that
待っていい？Means can I wait? (Is it okay if I wait?)
待ってくれる？Means can you wait? (would you mind waiting?)
And 待っていい（よ）。Means you can wait. (It's OK if you wait.)

How close am I?

My initial reaction is to ask まっていい？To try to say "can you wait?"

But think that is not right.

Simply put, you use kureru/kudasai when making a specific request.

Matte kudasai/kureru
Could you please wait.

I think the other form your thinking of is "-te mo ii" (I'm not sure I've seen -te ii) If thats the case...then this simply is asking if an action is allowable.

Tabete mo ii?
Is it ok to eat?

Tabete mo ii yo
Its ok to eat.

Matte mo ii?
Is it ok to wait?

At least thats what I think you are aiming for. But if you want to just say "Can you wait (for a little bit)?" I think maybe "chotto matte kuremasen ka" (a little unsure of this one) or maybe just "chotto matte kudasai"

I always associate ていい With "can" But think that is more of Can I/ I can or you can。

So.
銀行で預金をする前にちょっと待っていい？Would mean is it okay if I wait a bit before going to the bank, Not could you wait a bit before going to the bank, right?

You are right tabete mo ii and tabete ii are the same but mo is usually dropped and te ii is actually much more common. te mo ii is usually reserved for formal conversation.

It may sound like "銀行でお金を預金のをちょっと待ってくれない？; please reconsider to deposit the money in the bank."

ちょっと待って(くれない？) can also have the meaning of "please reconsider/rethink" in some contexts. So you might be better to say something like

銀行にお金預けてくるからちょっと待ってて/待っててくれない？
銀行にお金預けてくるまでちょっと待ってて/待っててくれない？
(*待ってて; the contraction of 待っていて)

It is closer to what should be used as "may" in English. But ていい also has other uses. And there are other words that can substitute for いい when asking permission, so it's best not to become too fixated on this particular pattern.

It can refer to him, her or I.


Also, isn't the particle normally に instead of で for depositing money ?
で is more like "at the bank" while に means basically "into your account."
