Hello,
I received this necklace from a friend. I don't know what does the symbol and the writing mean. I would appreciate if someone could give me a clue.

The symbol represents the year of the dog, which may be the year when you were born.
The other side is just to say it is a protection charm (top line) and the bottom line is the name of the shrine.
