Hi Guys,

I am really hoping you could please help me translate the following yosegaki hinomaru that I have been fortunate to acquire

It was allegedly found in a cave on Iwo Jima by a U.S. Marine and I would love to at least know what written on this flag.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

At the top is "Pray For Everlasting Luck in Battle" (祈武運長久)

It's from the boss and friends/workmates of someone who worked at Sannomiya Train Station. The recipient's name is slightly illegible to me. Maybe Momoi Toshio (桃井都志夫) but the first kanji is different. The head of the train station is Sugii Kumao (杉井熊槌?)

The rest of the writings are names.

Thank you so much Majestic . . . Anyone else want to have a try at the recipient's name?

Michael

The recipient is 飛井都志夫 Tobii Toshio. I, too, think the head of the train station is 杉井熊槌, but the reading would be Sugii Kumatsuchi. Judging from the station name 三ノ宮駅 Sannomiya Station, he might be from Kobe city.
