I just saw a wooden Buddha(Nyorai) statue in an antique shop today and i liked it. There was this emblem on the middle of the statue..Is it something like a family crest or shrine crest maybe?
It does look like a 家紋 (kamon/family crest). The motif looks like katabami (oxalis, wood sorrel). I don't know this for sure, but since this probably came from a private collection it seems plausible that the statue was commissioned by a family and that's their crest.
