Hi dear friends

I bought this little sakazuki and I wonder if this cup intended to honor the memory of a dead soldier ?

It seems to me that the symbols (flower) in the centre of the cup seem to indicate a "KIA"

Am I right ?

Would you be kind enough to translate the inscription on the center of the cup and on the wooden lid of the box...

and....is what the 2 kanjis indicate the name of the soldier ??

One more time, mamy thanks for your very precious help

No, just a souvenir on the occasion of his being discharged from the army.

Congratulations, Taniguchi-kun, on your discharge from the army.

Hi "Majestic" and "mdchachi"
Thank you very much for this translation........ and for correcting my mistake
I thought the cherry blossom (in this form of drawing) was associated with the death of a soldier and to Yasukuni because the design looks like that of the Kia badge.
But as mdchachi said "it's a common motif in Japan"
