clubbing in Japan

20.. But it is extremely lax.. meaning.. if your a foreigner.. and like 18.. they'll think your 20.. the law is not very largely enforced.. or so I've heard :) .. and if your 20.. well then no problem.. lol
 
I just turned 18 but I am like 6' 6" and i look alot older than 18 so do you think i will pass?

I'd say so lol.. being under-age is one thing I've learned not to worry about.. they will serve you.. and being 6'6 couldn't hurt.. lol.. infact, if he doesn't give you a drink, step on him.. lol.. But yeh, you'll be served no problem..
 
I have never drank before can someone tell me some good drinks of course i want to try sake i always have since i was little but can someone give me some others?
 
If your below the drinking age of where you come from then just take it easy until you find your feet otherwise you know how it works :D
 
But can you recomend anything, I will prolly ony have one or two because I dont want to be to hammered my first try dont wanna end up drowning in my own vomit that and I will kinda want my wits about me.

But in a club he who can't drink and dance will never get in a womans pants. lol :D (joking)

Hmmm go for the screwdrivers. Vodka and Orange.

Sake on your first drink out will kill you DEAD. Its too strong. It also doesn't go well with the whole clubbing thing. Its better drunk in an Izakaya.


Oh and avoid clubs/bars which have a 'You must have a drink in your hand to stay here' policy if you haven't drunk before.

I guess the same could be said for America. How many cowboys do you know? The Old West is just that, old, and I believe that martial arts probably are viewed in much the same light in Japan as cowboys are here in the US.

okay guys heres some statistics for all of you travelling to Japan and planning to go clubbing 🙂

these are from STA travel

There窶冱 no doubt that people travel to 窶枠et close窶 to some of the wonderful inhabitants of this fine earth. The results of the STA Travel Sex Survey don窶冲 leave much to the imagination! Of the 250 travellers (predominantly aged 18窶?9) recently surveyed, more than 90% of them admitted to having an intimate relationship with someone they met travelling. Half the respondents had been with more than one person on their trip, with residents (52%) slightly more popular choices than fellow travellers (48%). A massive 82% said getting lucky was easier overseas and almost 90% practised safe sex. Cold shower anyone?

I never go clubbing here in Italy, I'm not the kind of guy who love to dance/show off, I love alternative music so you can imagine... And I can get to no more than a lounge bar or a pub.

*BUT*

I will go to clubs in Tokyo this year because I've been told it's a great experience, I'd also love to meet some nice people there (obviously why not girls?).

I have to say I'm too short (1.65 sigh...) and I felt pretty short in Japan last time I got there :) they're not as short as it's been told! :)

What's the ettiquite for taking a Japanese girl out to dinner on a first time date? Is the guy expected to pay? Because I read that it's also common to split the check when dining with friends. Does this apply?

Also what are some decent, not too expensive, restaurants in Roppongi?
 
im not in to the whole drinking thing. I would rather wait until Im over the age limit. It keeps me safe in the respect that I will be able to think actively and respond to situations. Also my parents have this strange way of finding things out! lol

everytime i've been out with with native japanese girls, they paid (except for ones living in america -- they probably expect it like everyone else), but that's because they were the initiator.

one thing i know FOR SURE, DON'T ASK IN ADVANCE (the method of payment) BEFORE THE MEAL.
i learned it like everything else (the hard way :( )

yeah man, the hard way can be tough sometimes :-(
 
i'm still surprised that they haven't put up a picture in the airport saying "don't let this guy in the country!"
oh well, here's hoping (they still haven't) anyway
