I'm gonna travel to Japan next year, and I don't know how I can ship my souvenirs home.

My souvenirs are probably gonna consist mostly of figures scrolls/posters and some clothes.

Sorry if this is a repost, the last post I could find was from 2005, and some things could've changed since then.

Or just keep them in your luggage. If you're doing a short trip you can have a spare fold-up duffel bag (or just get one in Japan) and use it as a second check-in or carry-on item. Postage is not cheap, unfortunately

I sent a package home from Japan about 18 months ago. My local post office gave a box and sticker, with the option of air or sea (maybe land too? Can't quite recall). IIRC it took about 6 weeks from Japan to the UK by ship and cost about 5-6,000 yen.

I did air mail a few years ago but that cost more, but arrived much quicker obviously.

hmm, do they do flat rate packages? I thought that was only domestic, and all international shipments are by weight...

If you're shipping souvenirs, you might want to go for one of the airmail options (especially if they're valuable). I must have sent mine by surface mail (the post office clerk said it was by ship), because it was the cheapest option and I didn't have anything valuable or that needed delivering quickly.
