I appreciate the help. I just want to know what it means and if its fake or not. :)

My wife can't make any sense of it. You're in the Philippines? Could it be Chinese? Was it a Japanese-run mine with Chinese labor?

I moved your posts. Here's the pictures in the correct direction.

The kanji are abbreviations, for instance, 輜 is 輜重 "logistics", 師 is 師団 "division (army > division > brigade)". I suspect it might be fake due to the shape of some kanji.

五 is missing half of its top horizontal line.
輜 should have くくく at the top of 田 (instead of ツ)
The radical in the kanji 師 is looking more like 自instead of 官 ← can't get the right kanji to display .
番 looks like its been dissected and not quite re-assembled correctly.
Any one of these, in isolation, I would write off. The top part of 五 could have been disfigured by rubbing against something. Maybe 輜 was stamped with ツ instead of くくく for clarity.
番, well... I'm sure there could be some plausible reason for making it look that way.
But all together, the confluence of oddities makes me suspicious.
Here is a link to a dogtag from a similar platoon/troop with 五, 輜, 番 all rendered normally.

To Apxz,
The above all makes me think your dogtag might be fake. This is not my area of specialty, so I couldn't say for sure. There is a huge business in creating fake Japanese antiques - a lot of fakes apparently coming from China. Two of the kanji on one side of your dog tag, 師輜, refer to a logistics/supply chain. On the back there is the kanji 病 which presumably refers to hospital, so one could imagine the dogtag belong to a medical supply section. Again, too many anomalies and things start to become suspicious.

@ The OP, just for confirmation, you turned over the pictures in your initial post or you posted the original ones as it is/as you shot? If the kanji are inscribed on the dog tag just as in the original pictures, it's no doubt fake.

I appreciate the help. thanks guys. its a shame if its a fake. anyway will be looking for more inside the mine we'll be returning today there's lots of stuff there. i think i saw some type 38 arisaka rifles.

I will post some pics. We haven't gone that further. We will look for more. currently waiting for my friends going for a 2nd look at the mine. Can't wait to find more things :).

@Majestic the flag was stuck to something and I forgot to bring my camera yesterday. but I'll post some pics. of it later.

Apxz - if you really are digging around a mine where there is World War 2 stuff left over, I hope you are being extremely careful. Who knows what sort of dangerous things are lying around.
Sounds like a very interesting adventure, but there are still a lot of unexploded things out there.

The flag was gone some people said they saw some teens coming out of the mine with the flag and the rifles we saw. we explored deeper and we saw some human remains i think we did the right thing by calling the proper authority.
