Monbukagakusho Undergraduate 2016

Hello! If you don`t mind i would like to ask a question: let`s say you have passed the interview and your file is being sent to Japan. Let`s say you get a positive answer. What`s next? I suppose my real question is: are there any more exams required in order to get accepted at a specific university? For example, does University of Tokyo demands that you pass more exams in order to enter, let`s say School of Medicine?

if you get the scholarship you will spend a year in preparatory education. after that year it seems that you will take more exams to decide which university you go to. this website is run by someone who received the scholarship, she explains it pretty well. With Love from Japan, Eustacia

Hi!
When will be the examinations in your country?
For me, Japanese exam will be on June 28th and Math on June 29th

It will be on june 23 in the philippines. I think they will held all of the exams on that day.9:00-2:30 all natural sciences and 11:00-2:30 for social science. to those filipinos who will also be taking their exams, see you there!

I know that is not common to fail the first documents screen, but I´m still a bit afraid. The results will come on June 23 but I want to ask if someone has been rejected in this first phase.

Hiiii everyone!! I'm from India and I too am applying for the Japanese govt. scholarships!
Hope we all qualify and I see you guys in Japan next year :)
@Kek21: how are your preparations going?!
@AllenGlen2298: when is the interview in philippines?
great to find guys like you all!

@Robozilla My preparations are going well, I guess. English is ok, Japanese language is ok, but Math is difficult. I´m studying everyday so that I can solve some problems of the exam. But let´s go on, we can make it! :) How about you?

@Kek21: English is no big deal for me I'll do great! I'll be going for english language courses so won't be giving japanese language tests. Yeah! Maths really scares the **** out of me, I too am practicing daily to give my best. And yes! we will make it and maybe we'll see each other in Japan soon! :)
By the way my exams are scheduled to be in july.. when are yours?
and I guess they have the same question paper for every country isn't it?
are you on facebook?

Hi guys! I'm writing from Colombia. I'm 18 years old and I graduated last Saturday from school! I will attend the first semester in my University while the program starts in April (if I get accepted) and I was wondering if I have to write this information or if it's better to just give my school information.
Another thing, I'd like to pursue the field of robotics, so I was wondering what the best option for the field of study is more related: mechanical or electronic/electical engineering.

Thanks in advance for answering!

Hiii @Legitimaro !!
great to have you here :) I too wanna pursue robotics! And I checked in the majors details document that robotics is listed under Mechanical engineering section. So better choose mechanical! yeah! I have chosen mechanical as my first preference and electrical and electronics as my second preference. When are your exams by the way? have you cleared your primary screening?

Guys, I am really confused. I just received an offer from a professor to be my advisor for research. BUT I did not receive an interview for the MEXT scholarship. Does this mean I can apply through university recommendation? And if not, what does it mean for my chances of doing research?

Hiii @EmLA : Congrats! I guess you can apply for research scholarship now. But still, there's a lot to be done..
by the way, this thread is for undergrads! so maybe check out some threads relating to research scholarships.. maybe the guys there can help you better. Best of luck!

Hi, Thanks! Thank you for the heads up about this being the undergrad forum; I just posted in the research forum. By saying that I can apply for the research scholarship now, do you mean through the embassy or through university recommendation? My situation is that I was rejected for an embassy interview, but I am still trying to see if there is a way to get the MEXT scholarship through university recommendation, based on the fact that a professor has agreed to advise me.

hey EmLA.. I read a number of other thread and what I found is that with the help of a professor you can probably apply for the scholarship via university recommendation. Of course! the probability of you being selected won't be as high as compared to embassy recommended application. But since you already tried and failed embassy recommendation, go for it! all the best :)

Thank you! This is what I'm thinking too. I am just praying that the professor who accepted me is not assuming that I already have funding. We will see how this goes.

Hey guys, I'm applying from the USA. I was wondering how long it usually takes to hear a response about whether your documents are accepted or not. The deadline was on June 18th and my documents were received around the 8th-10th. Will they send an email regardless to let me know about my application status? Thank you!

Hey @Brendin
nice to have you here!
well u must be notified by 24th or 25th. They usually notify in a week. Check the embassy's website regularly, coz most of the embassies put it on their website instead of mailing to every student.
all the best!
