Which Kanji is more readable (if any)?

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, so.. dozo yoroshiku!

I have a question about readability of Kanji - I am making a design with 3 words - Perseverence (Nintai), Veracity (Makoto) and Yuuki (Courage). Can you please advise which one of the 2 versions in the attached picture are more readable - the left one or the right one? If writing both of them the way I did looks wrong, please let me know and indicate the right way!

Boku wo tasukete kudasai! Arigato gozaimasu.

The one on the left is confusing, 勇気 and 忍耐 are written vertically, so naturally 誠 should be on either left or right of the words, not on top or bottom.

Also why not use words like 誠実 to replace 誠.

Thanks for the response. I was choosing between Shinjitsu and Makoto to be honest... but as Makoto is one of the 7 virtues of bushido and this design being a tattoo for someone who has dedicated his life to martial arts (by the way I am not a tattoo artist and designing this piece for myself, not somebody else!), I thought it was more fitting? From design point of view replacing with Shinjitsu would work out easier - you're right.

What if I write horizontally instead of vertically? E.g.:

勇気
忍耐
誠

Otherwise I could use 誠実 instead of just 誠 and write all 3 either vertically or horizontally:

勇気
忍耐
誠実

or

勇忍誠
気耐実
